Bill P,

Don't forget your storekeeper. What can you do without the right supplies (hook ups!!)? Any chief petty officer will tell you a good SK is worth his/her weight in gold.

this answer is different for everyone. do you want a military career? or are you planning to get out? what do YOU want to do? You do just about anything for a job. You can get a medical job and stay in only long enough for the good training and get out and make money doing that job as a civilian. Or, you can get a job (like I have in the AF - weapons loader for a fighter jet) that doesn't give you skills relevant for a civilian job, but it'll allow you to do something different and exciting and build a career in the military.

The three most powerful jobs of enlisted men are:

1. Yeoman
2. Corpsman
3. Cook

and not necessarily in that order.

The Yeoman has your service record and can "lose it" if you don't watch out. The corpsman will administer all assistance to you for your STDs. The cook doles out the food and if you upset him, you will not eat well.

I was the lead yeoman on a small ship and the captain had the office skills of a gnat. Insofar as personnel matters were concerned, he had to give to my opinions as he knew nothing.

There isn't really a best job, it all depends on what your interests are. A job that one person would call the best job, another person would absolutely hate.
