Well ... If you want my 2-cents.... the Iraquis seem so ferschiggled that they can't even wait to destroy themselves. Maybe it is the terrain, maybe it is the religion. We can speculate...

To my way of thinking, it isn't really a war .... it is a mess. Why the States and the other countries in there with us are involved... that is also open to speculation ... a real moot point ....I imagine it
is because of the terrorists who are just jumping around waiting to commit suicide .. and that would involve other countries. I don't think they care where they destroy themselves and might well get their jollies out of causing trouble to people of other countries and that means that
the military has to step in because terrorists, in their madness, don't care for innocent citizens, and that is the very life breath of the military ...

That part of the world is really very sad .... their lack of rainfall, the lack of natural beauty, the lack of natural resources ... . they must be having a very hard time and there is not a great deal you can do about it. Better to pull up stakes and move elsewhere.

Obviously they cannot do that.

Iraqui culture is nothing to write home about: their cuisine is unimportant, their rugs inferior by far to those of their neighbors (Iranians - i.e. Persians whose rugs have always been glorious ... isn't it strange ... just across the border, right next DOOR...!!!!) their architecture is undistinguished, their couture is finky, the wild life is ... is what ....I am sure that artistically they are behind the 8-ball.

Culturally, they do not have an output. Take breakfast, for example. Have your ever ...as in ever ....had anyone come over
to you, saying, "Here, you just gotta try this great stuff... it comes from Iraq! It's gonna beat croissants any day now!"

No, you haven't. They aren't very lively little creatures over there.

Sad ... that to redraft a whole culture costs so much.
And then, maybe there was never much of a culture anyway
At one time I worked in an art museum. Whenever someone would come across something from Iraq, it was guaranteed that someone else would come over and say ,"From Iraq? [heh, heh] lemme see!" Usually it would turn out to be an old coin of no distinction at all ...

I hope they will find something to live for soon.

We were told that Iraq had "weapons of mass destruction" and that they could destroy us all!! Saddam Hussein was an evil tyrant and had to be removed.
Well, Saddam has been removed but the whole spin on those weapons of mass destruction has been seen to be a blatant lie. The only things secured and under control are the oilfields. The US and British soldiers arrive home daily in bodybags. So much for kicking their asses!!
We have invaded and taken over a country where we are more than NOT welcome. The hypocrisy and lies of our UK and US politicians have got us and our troops in a right damned pickle!
I hope we pull out soon. We have no business there. The more we stick our oars in the worse we make things. Let them get on with their own affairs.

We are NOT fighting a war with Iraq. We are aiding Iraq set up a system of government other than the kind with an evil dictator. America needs allies of similar governing styles in the Middle East. It is there where terrorism originates.

It is NOT for OIL. All who said OIL are ignorant.

In a word: oil. Don't believe all the humanitarian nonsense about freeing Iraqis from Saddam Hussein. If Iraq did not have the world's second largest oil reserve we would not be there.

first it was to fight them over there so we didnt have to fight them here. then it was to stay the course. right now we are there to force democracy on people who either dont want it or aren't ready for it. we and they are dying for a cause that hasnt helped anyone yet

the point to fighting in iraq at this point, is that we dont know what else to do

The fight isn't with Iraq. It's only with innocent Iraqi men, women and children. And we know this because it is they, predominantly, who are being killed. ...And if any insurgents get caught in the cross-fire, all the better.

There is no point at all. Iraq was never a threat to the west, nor was it a hot bed for terrorists.

Heres a poem I made about it....
Why do we need wars?
Can't we just sit back and look at the stars?
What does it mean except killing eachother?
Cant we all act like sisters and brothers?
This war is tearing us apart,
And its breaking all our hearts.
We need to learn to get along.
And to sing a more peaceful song.l

I don't think there IS one. Not at this stage. We don't seem to have a chance of influencing or channeling events there.
I am not even sure why we invaded and occcupied in the first place.
