"By then, it had become an article of faith within the FEC, personally testified to by MacArthur, that no Asian troops could stand up to American military might without being annihilated. This attitude, considered a “fact” within the FEC and constantly repeated to the Washington political and military leadership, resulted in the second strategic blunder—the surprise Chinese intervention in the war." Quote from CIA studies paper on misperceptions.

My ultimate goal is to become a Marine Corps Officer, but I really want to experience active duty first. I have Mono at the moment, and by the time that is all cleared up I will already have my associates degree. I was thinking after that, I would sign up for active duty. Does anyone know anything about enlisted commissioning programs? Thanks everyone.

Maybe we need to suggest they march like normal countries. You think this might make them less "irratible". I know I would hate looking like a dork on international television. I tried to march like this in my kitchen (I am not defecting!). It made my beagle look at me strange, though.

I know the whole spit shine process but I heard there is another way.

I was wondering if anyone knows what the product is called when you actually put a plastic coating on the boot. You have to do it in 4 steps.

It takes about 3 hours to dry each time and after it is done it looks like you have patent leather on the applied parts.

Anyone have any ideas what it is called?

There are limits to what servicemen & women can tolerate. Especially in this day and age under this particular administration, where you are being asked to do the impossible, and often times the immoral, without the blissfull ignorance of what they can look forward to (hospital bills, telephone hang ups and little to no public financial support) if they even survive at all...

soldiers (from all ranks and positions) can only take so much before the line between what they are told to do and what they will do is crossed. What's your line?

Can’t seem to find a description of their training…

Would it be equivalent to a sniper or assassin?

Can you really be trained to hear some one moving silently behind you like they portray in the movies ?

I'm thinking about droppin out of school and joinin the army. I feel like I need to do something right now and college just isn't cutting it for me. How is the quality of life after basic? For example, weekly scheduales and how they treat you once you are a soldier. I plan on enlisting as a 97E. Is anyone familiar with this MOS and the schooling involved? How are weekends off and such?

I was just wondering if someone can give me an insight on what's going on over there.. My boyfriend is over there... a co-worker of mine says that after a while of "not getting any" they go after other marines... (opposite sexes of course). Is this true for the most part? I trust my boyfriend, i'm just curious.
Any recommendations on what I should send him in care packages? He's already been there for a month or so...
