Honor, courage, and commitment are the three pillars of the Marines, and you should trust him. Your co-worker is passing along unfounded gossip, pure and simple.
You have the choice of believing either someone you love who happens to be a trustworthy United States Marine, or a gossipy, jealous, maybe spiteful co-worker who hasn't a clue what is reality in Iraq but from what he/she's seen from the distorted media.
What should you send your boyfriend? LETTERS! lots and lots of letters, telling him what's happening here at home. News, clippings from your hometown paper, descriptions of your yard and the flowers and trees in the fall, conversations with his friends, relay their greetings... he's desperate for contact with the familiar and loving people he has left behind.
What can you send him? All the stuff other people have mentioned, of course. You can also go to the websites of Brigade Quartermaster, or another military magazine, or the United States Marine website for ideas of small, very useful items to ship overseas. When you talk to him next (or email if he can do that) ask if he'd like warmer socks, or something with Gor-tex, or batteries, or CDs with his music. Toaster pastries? Licorice whips? Hard candy? Get big bags so he can share with his buddies, and maybe with some of the Iraqi kids he meets.
Any foodstuffs you send must be able to survive shipment, of course.
BTW, there is an awesome web-based chatroom for moms/wives/gfs of Marines. The URL is http://www.marineparents.com/usmc/chat.asp. The Chat Room is only open during scheduled hours which are posted on the URL. Each chat night has a specific agenda related to supporting our Marines and their families at home.
I used this chat room a lot during the months my son was at MCRD in San Diego when he was a Marine recruit, and made lots of friends. It's a great support group.
Good luck, and remember Semper Fi! doesn't just apply to our menfolk stationed somewhere away from us... it applies to us too! Your boyfriend is depending on you to be faithful and supportive. Don't believe gossip. Believe him.

Okay, first of all, I spent 18 months over there. Two things about "not getting any"... One: It's really dirty over there off of the bases and the last thing on his mind should be about "getting any". Two: Most females in the Marine Corp are either crazy, stupid, or just plain ugly. I am not being sexist here, but after spending two months in extremly sweaty, dirty, smelly, and other unpleasant descriptions, the last thing any guy would want to do is hook up with a female Marine in the same situation. I dont know about other guys who spent time over there, but thats my experience. And this is not saying that there aren't any good looking girls over there. At the air base I was working out of, there were some extremely good looking chicks, both military and contractor. I just found the conditions to be non-condusive to lustful thoughts.
Baby wipes are worth their wieght in gold over there. Send the most current editions of his favorite magazines. If he smokes or dips, Ziplock his favorite brand of tobacco. American tobacco can be hard to come by at the smaller FOBs that the PX trailer hardly ever goes to.

Don't listen to people who tell you that. They are just saying that because they have no idea what else to say. My husband has been over there for a month and a half. True they are out there by for a long time, but I can assure you the last thing on their minds is going behind the buidings with some female marine. Also, big piece of advice, DON'T listen to what the news says, it will drive you absolutely crazy.

His rank would not remember as much as what his activity is in the Marine Corps. A Corporal in the Infantry, or who's an MP, will probable see lots extra risky stuff than somebody who's have been given an administrative or help-form activity, like supply/logistics, or a mechanic. it incredibly relies upon on what he would be doing whilst he's there. That pronounced, each physique of our militia deployed to Iraq is in possibility. it is a conflict zone.

If your boyfriend wouldn't cheat on you at home,he won't cheat on you there. If you don't have a web cam, get one. You can keep him happy and missing you over the internet with a web cam. Depending on his job, he may be working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, which doesn't leave much time for "dating". As someone else has already pointed out, it is dirty over there and my husband says that alot of the females just really don't care about hygiene over there. As far as what to send: cans of chips (they don't get crushed), jerky, Little Debbies, hard candy, powered Gatorade, lip balm, his usual brands of tolietries (all brands are not available there), magazines, DVDs and video games.

The military, particularly the Marines, are so terrified of being accused as 'gay' due to un-masculine ideas about the concept, that this would never happen. They're so afraid of being implied as gay they go out of their way to aviod it. Besides, if he didnt have those urges before, they wont magically appear.
If nothing else, this will reaffirm his sexuality. Not having a female around will make him realize how much he enjoys females, and all that implies.
And, from a military stand point, very few gay military men are atracted to other military men. Its like dating your brother or sister. In the marines they promote the idea of 'family in the military' and 'team player' and the idea of sex violates that on every level. They view each other as family, not as sexual beings.

My boyfriend is in Iraq... he's not in combat, just in computers.
Honestly, I don't think they have a lot of time for stuff like that. And I don't think it would be considered proper conduct for them to go after other Marines, male or female. I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

If your b/f is dedicated to you and loves you, you have nothing to worry about. Don't listen to what other people say. I doubt your b/f even has time to think about stuff like that.
You can send him food, like beef jerky, micro popcorn, candy, cookies etc. Wipes, hand jel, lotions etc. Just send him whatever you think he might like. Just remember no cigarettes or dirty mags.
Remember to be supportive and patient with him. God Bless you both.
