Once you are in the military, your life is on longer your own. Before you sign on the dotted line, you make sure that everything they promised you is in writing. Your weekends and time off is all determined by the needs of the military. If your family has major events happening in their lives (marriage, graduations, births), you will not be able to go unless the military says you can go.
As a grunt you will either sleep in the barracks with 80 other guys or you will be sleeping in the field where you will be at the mercy of the elements. If the military says it needs you to stay up all night and then work the next day, you will. When someone is a higher rank than you, and you have an argument with them, it is like fighting with someone that has your balls in their hands, and you will never win. When I got out, I had problems relating to people that had never been in the armed forces.
This is all before considering where you will end up. There is a war going on in Iraq. You will end up going to Iraq and being shot at. You will be expected to kill on command and shoot to kill.
Good things about the military, you never have to worry about rent. They take care of all your medical and dental. They will teach you skills that you would never learn anywhere else. They will pay for a huge chunk of your college. You never have to think because they do all that for you and you just have to follow orders (if you think that is a good thing). Your future is set for the years you sign up because you have no say in it. You will be exercised, eat the food they give you, and be surrounded by guys that you will grow closer to than anyone else.

If you haven't got the grit to stick out college, what makes you think you'll have the grit to stick out the Army? You need to answer this question for yourself, I'm not being sarcastic.
You'd be joining an all-volunteer force taking on some pretty tough jobs. Do you whine a lot? Are you expecting weekends off and cushy duty? If so, you might find yourself dissed by the troops around you.
Be sure about it before you enlist.

In a single word: badly. You will earn every cent you'll ever make, and then some. If you're looking for a better quality of life, join one of the other branches, but, even then, you will have lots of weekend duties, extra duties, long shifts and odd hours.
But, more importantly, get your high school diploma. By passing up the chance to get your high school diploma, you will be shutting the door to many options.

it is crap, plain and simple, and yes in the "new" Army we all get shot at no matter what your job. I am in Military intelligence, a desk jockey more or less, been shot at, had shrapnel split my nose from a mortar, close call with mortars and rockets, and I wont even mention the IED's. OH wait!! your going to MI also..well good luck, Im sure the recruiter would not lie to you "hehe", in war, and everyone will see it in this war, we all get shot at. It isnt like how they play it off to be.

I agree, the commandements state, thou shalt no longer kill, no longer thou shalt no longer homicide, yet whilst your political management lies it is ars off to covet yet another countries aspects you could invade that u . s . a . killing women persons and infants to make wealthy militia industrialists even richer! conflict could be dedicated by using christians, yet conflict isn't a Christian action. after all, Who could Jesus kill? As for Iraq, Patti, Iraqis had the liberty to study any non secular text textile they cherished in the previous the invasion. Iraq replaced right into a mundane u . s . a ., Their remote places minister replaced right into a christian. Now although there are aspects of Iraq the place women persons are subjugated and compelled into donning burkhas and non secular intollerance is rife. is this the effects of a justifiable christian invasion?

bush is planning world war 3. you probably should drop out of school if you hadn't figured that out for yourself already. but don't join the army. try and get a job where you'll learn something you can do for yourself. why not try a trade school instead. make good money doing a lot of things and it's a job you dn't have to kiss anybody's *** cuz you work for yourself. **** the army then you work for a few rich assholes who send you to get killed.
peace
