Why shouldn't North Korea have nuclear weapons? Or should they?

Nobody wants nuclear war. If attackers nuke a country, that country will retaliate. People fear nuclear war but it's really an unreasonable fear because even corrupt nations like North Korea are not suicidal. However, I believe that if some countries have nuclear weapons, than any other country with the technology available has the right to create them too.

There are few 'enemies' the U.S. truly needs to fear. North Korea isn't one of them, and if we do start messing around with them, we might upset their buddy China - who could easily beat our asses.

Well a long time ago Nuclear weapons were invented and used by a country to end a great war. Than the other powerful country's gained Nuclear weapons. All the nations got together and decided that these weapons were too powerful for every country to have. So they signed treaty's to limit the countries that can have Nuclear weapons to the countries that already had them. Then they began limiting the weapons that they had.

I think that they made a good call by limiting nuclear weapons.

It's not very hard to hide nuclear weapons after you've made the weapons-grade materials. Saddam proved that. The problem with N Korea is that they're not able to develop delivery systems. Right now, they can hit everyone in their own neighborhood. The appropriate response from us would be to offer our allies in the region the means to defend themselves. Remember that satellite we just knocked out of the skies this week? Japan has the technology to do that, too (and despite China's boasting, they don't. There's a big difference between a satellite built as part of a prototype system--designed to be hit, and one that comes down accidentally that we have to take care of in transit. You can't choreograph an accident in advance for the media's benefit.)

Sooner or later all the other countries are gonna have nuclear weapons.. It's only a matter of time. But the way i see it is like this... if our own gov. The USA gov didn't do anything to other countries then we shouldn't even have to worry about other countries having any kind of weapon.

"You only have to worry about someone else's weapon unless you've done something to make them come after you."

And don't thing that our gov is blame less...... our hands are in alot of cookie Jars. Unfortunately.....

The People's Republic of China will support the Democratic People's of Korea even though it is not done publicly. It is their right to choose even though they should had been attacked instead of Iraq. President Bush is aware that war with them would have had more Americans killed because a lot of North Korean military people are taught martial arts and are indoctrinated to kill even if they die. The US do not teach the regular military martial arts except Special Forces and they do this to be cheap and not waste money. The military should be taught to be effective in hand to hand combat but NOT brainwashed.

They have an unstable leader, but technically, any country should defend themselves against attack. If Bush were doing his job, he'd make Kim Jon il feel much more comfortable. Little Bush's best lesson regarding the use of war is "don't frighten the bears".

1) They can't be trusted
2) There is a prevailing fear that they will sell nuclear weapons to rogue nations or terrorist groups.
