Yes, they are afraid. Bush's lack of diplomatic measures over the years has caused the world to be on the brink of war. He may now realize that his actions were careless and foolhardy and he may try to work things out now before China, Japan and Russia go crazy.

China isn't afraid of North Korea. China is a long time ally of North Korea, and does plenty of business with the N. Koreans. There is no reason for the Chinese to do anything.

China respects North Korea as an ally even when it tested nuclear weapons which is a threat to world peace. It does not mean that it is afraid of North Korea.

China has a tiger by the tail! This is a monster that China created and it doesn't appear that it still has control!
China does not want millions of Korean refugees flooding it's borders. At this very moment, China is erecting fences along it's border with N.Korea in anticipation of a refugee crises.
The N.Koreans are starving, and they're becoming desperate. Frankly, this whole thing could implode on Kim Jong Il. At that point it's hard to say what would happen. In the minds of the N.Korean population, they must realize that their leader is a head case leading them into certain disaster. This combined with no food, has got to be a time bomb across the entire peninsula. Stay tuned!

China is NOT afraid of North Korea, and they have indeed spoken with them as to their current behavior. They don't do it publicly as the Koreans would lose face. That being said, Kim Il Jong is pretty much a loose cannon and he is afraid of the U.S. Unfortunately he also seems to be of the mind that the best defense is a good offense. That coupled with what seems to be some severe pschological manias on his part makes North Korea something to be concerned with. Instead of this silly tough guy posturing we're doing, we should be talking to this yoyo. he'd be easier to control if he thought we were friends.

China is afraid of a breakdown of the cardboard government in N. Korea falling and having to deal with millions of starving refugees streaming north across the border.
They can't refuse refugees from another Communist country without loosing face. They don't fear North Korea's bombs. They are much too large to deliver by missile or bicycle, so the would have to deliver them via rail or via truck, or maybe a bus. So if you see a school bus with Korean writing on it belching and smoking down the road, RUN!

China is not really on our side as they would have you think. Even though we saved their butt's from Japan during WW2, they still long for more control over the world and see Democracy's like the US as an enemy. China and the US are not allies. N Korea is a way for China to see how far the US, and Japan will go in response to certain threats, and for them to see what we are capable of.

HI there,
Study history concerning the Korean War, Korea has maintained a formidable army for a very long time.
During that war, Korea almost dominated Indo-China and probably would have if it were not for the United States getting involved.
Furthermore, China has just entered into prosperity through the global market and has recently spent mega Billions on modernization and industrialism.
I do not think that they would welcome destruction to their infrastructure unless it was unavoidable.

China is minding their own business. They've already got enough in their hands. Aside from that, N. Korea and China used to be long time allies. Long time allies usually do not just suddenly turn on one another.

No......China is not afraid of N.Korea........n there is much truth in the answer I see you recieved i.e. they are in bed together.
However, there's more to that.........you've got to understand the communist mind............or shall I say..........the Asian communist mind.
China is flexing their muscles ................ n new found worldwide recognition (.....of being en emerging superpower)............. by showing off a 'diplomatic stance'.............which means talk..........talk.............talk..........n more talks..........but no action! ...................the same the West had been doing for decades!
Meanwhile, China is tacitly using NorKor to rattle the 'civilized' world..................pushing an irrational and madly bad behaving Kim to the prominence of the world....................while relishing in the worldwide discomfort & ..........mis-belief that China is the ONLY nation that could reign in the runaway nut!
It doesnt take much for anyone to guess................the truth that China is exploiting the NorKor issue to let the world know that............... China is not just an emerging superpower .................but China holds the trump cards in dealing with 'difficult countries'...............i.e. most third world countries............stretching from Asia to Africa.........including the Middle East............n particularly with NorKor!
So, the world at large better be listening ............or watching....... especially ........the USA!
...........so leave the problem of Taiwan to the Chinese............... it's an internal domestic affair! .............an altercation between cousins or brothers!
The hidden face of the Asian commuists is their 'stark realistic' method of facing any possible......... or potential 'human wave'.....
.........what is your take on the posssibility of a collapse of Kim Jong Il's regime?.......n the consequences to its neighbors?
The world believes ..............that there will be a human wave of Norkor refugees running over to China...............
This is expected and ................very likely to happen if such an occasion arises.
.......but more...............its not just to the China side................this wave will also flood Russia & ........S.Korea..........and possibly a bunch of boat people over to Japan as well.......
Here I'll give you an insight what might be the reception........from the neighbors:
The 'Westernized' neighbors?
The Japanese will hate the refugees........(they hate all foreigners)...............but for the show to the world...............they will 'help' and give a humanitarian reception i.e. food, shelter, clothing....etc. via their charitable organisations & Int'l Red Cross ...............n get the refugees all to be transferred to any thrid country in a hurry...........i.e. no P.R. in Japan!
The S.Koreans will offer whatever assistance they could give.................probably more than the Japanese............allow transit to any thrid country..........n do offer some P.R. in S.Korea.
What would the communists do?
The Russians will black out most news about the refugees .......... .push most of them into skimpy camps in Siberia ...............n let them freeze their balls to death!
The Chinese would do a great show (pictures of thousands of welcoming clapping hands & big smiles).................. of offering assistance to the first wave of NorKor refugees.................then lose their patience..............try to stop them from entering China ( w barb wires at the borders)................failing which............they just might instruct the People's Army to shoot them!
Of coz.....u'll never read all these in the news!
If u think I am being extreme in my thoughts...........just watch the the Romanian video show this week .........on what the Chinese border guard (thinking there are no TV cameras around) did to the Nepalese refugees high up in the Himalayas!
Now......u get my message............that's Asian Communism at work!
My answer: 1). No........China is NOT afraid of North Korea at all.
...............n the West have to wake up n see things in their real perspectives!
2). Why should China step in n do something? They had their 'wonder kid' scaring the hell out of the world................n they are clapping themselves on the back ...............n laughing inside.............. seeing Kim Jong Il kicking everybody's shin!
