The short answer is: your question is bad to the point of being retarded. A platoon of any army in the world would overrun the entire Peace Corps in a matter of minutes.
On the other hand, I have long thought that we ask the military to do lots of things they are ill equipped to do--distributing food, rebuilding infrastructure, directing traffic, directing civic affairs, etc.--simply because we do not have any other organization capable of doing it. The military should be free to provide security while some other organization, like the Peace Corps, performs the more civilian oriented tasks. The problem is you can get killed handing out food in a war zone and nobody but a soldier is willing to risk that.
Would you join the Peace Corps if you thought you might get shot at while you helped the friendly villagers dig their well?

No, these organizations are two separate entities for a reason. Both exist to serve a different, useful function. As a member of the military, I have great respect for the Peace Corps. At least I get to carry a weapon into the war zone.

With out an active military to defend ourselves, others would take us over in a heart beat. While it'd be nice in theory, it's simply not practical in the Real World.
