I realize that we kicked butt in individual battles, just like in the current conflict. However, having to go back a mere 10 years later makes it seem like a Pyrric victory. Will history treat it as a loss?

I heard about a program that was intended to help out soldiers who didn't have a lot of family or anyone to send them care packages, sort of an "Adopt-A-Soldier" program. Does anyone know of one?

My husband didn't realize he had left a peice of semi-sensitive equipment in a bag he left home from R&R from Iraq. He asked me to look and I found it, but now they are threatening him court martial. It was an honest mistake and when we figured out he had it here, we promptly gave it back. My question is do they have grounds for these kinds of threats or are they just trying to scare and harrass him because they think he did soemthing shady? He is new to the unit he is in and to the Army. We are hard-working parents of 4 children and he is a good soldier serving in Iraq...please sincere answers only.

http://www.soldiersangels.org/heroes/armor.php:

"Armor is necessary protection for our deployed heroes . Although the Army is now aggressively sending Armored Humvees into the combat theatre, we still have many unarmored vehicles which do not provide adequate protection from sniper fire and IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices)."

I'm not talking about care packages or other personal stuff, I'm talking about protection equipment. And if wounded, should he/she have to pay army for damaged equipment? Don't laugh, it has happened! http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2006-02-08-armor-bill_x.htm

Now I honor the people of 9/11 with a B-B-Q . We are holding our 5th annual Anti-Al-Qaeda B-B-Q. It is an all pork affair. Even the salads and sides are somehow pork related, BLT salad, pork and beans, deviled eggs. We encourage the girls and women to dress with open toed shoes, because Al-Qaeda hates that. We also encourage them to becomes Dr.s and teachers and lawyers and vets. Play music and dance if you like you can even draw pictures of live animals and people. They hate that!!!!!! But never forget that we are here to show honor to the people that were taken from us. And to show NO FEAR to those that have tried to harm us. SO we celebrate the lives and the losses on this day but we do it in a way to let the world know, YOU MAY STRIKE US. WE MAY CRY. BUT WE NEVER FORGET OUR PEOPLE!!!

Iran has made no secret of its ultimate goal -- to destroy the world and thus usher in the 12th Imam -- the arrival of the Islamic messiah. I'm concerned (ha! what an understatement!) that the US will hesitate and hesitate to deal with Iran until WHAMMO -- Iran cuts loose and it's too late for us to do anything. I hope I'm wrong. Perhaps the US will unleash all manner of fury when it realizes that Iran 1) means business and 2) is equipped to carry out their threats. What do you think?

The Pentagon's top uniformed lawyers took issue Thursday with a key part of a White House plan to prosecute terrorism detainees, telling Congress that limiting the suspects' access to evidence could violate treaty obligations....

"I believe the accused should see that evidence," said Maj. Gen. Scott Black, the Army's Judge Advocate General.

Black and the other lawyers said such an allowance was a fundamental right in other court systems and would meet requirements under the Geneva Conventions.

Although he's a Republican, I have mass respect for him. He is concerned with the inside of our country, and out. My dad was a MArine in Vietnam, so that just increases my vote to him. He also has major plans for our military and the wellfare of the country.

I wanted the confederacy to win because, all the south wanted to do is form there own country, because since they were all democrat in a republican government, they had no say in the countries issues, and the north just used slavery to gain allies. Not that I agree with slavery, I just think it is wrong to make that seem like thats what the whole war was about, slavery was just a foot note, basically, the south were pilgrims and the north was the angry british power. So back to the question, north or south? and why.

I'll say "7 troops killed today" and some idiot will say "20 were killed in drunk driving crashes"in the USA. There are 145,000 troops in Iraq ( Yes it has gone up ) and 7 died in the last two days. OK, 20 died in car crashes but that is out of a population of 280 million. Do the math. I say again. 7 fine American troops were killed in the last two days and it was on page 7 of my newspaper. Something is wrong!!!
