I guess it just depends on what you want for yourself. The military can be a very rewarding field to get into. They have a lot of benefits, not to mention the great feeling you will get when someone says to you, "Thank you for serving our country." I think the military is a great thing to be involved in, even though A LOT of people will disagree with me on that. You will gain a lot of knowlege if you join the Army, and they give you a lot of benefits. Plus, since you have a degree, you should look into the Officer field as well. They have a lot more benefits then the enlisted do. I am going into the USMC as an officer, and I am really looking forward to the great oppurtunities I will get while in. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Better off getting a job. If you look at the fine print from the military, it does state that in all cases, the needs of the military apply, and supercede any agreements reached by you and the recruiter. So, if ya want to go to Iraq, and die for GW, and oil, join the military. If ya want to live, get a job, and go to school part time and at night. Its hard, I know, and getting harder as those who have take more and more from those who have not, increasing the gap between the two until a civil war occurs here in the states, but its better than putting up with 129 degree temperatures in ineffective body armor, while getting shot at and blown up. The recruiters will tell you how great the military is, and all the wonderful things you will experience, but realise, they work on a quota system, and dont give a rats *** about you once you sign on the bottom line. Think about this. How will your family react at your funeral? Do you really want to put them through this? Realise, I was in the military twice, The Air Force, Then the Navy. Neither one was enjoyable, both sucked, were hard work, and didnt do a damn thing for me. Your friends will try to get you to go, but, are those who try to get you to enlist really your friends, if they put you in harms way? Good luck, in whichever decission you make, because in the long run, it is up to you, not others to make this choice for you. The military is NOT at all like television and the movies would have you believe, Bullets hurt, dying is painful, and perminent, and the loss your family will feel will be very real, and will last till their dying days. Dont become another statistic in the newspapers. Realise, if things happened like the government says about 911, then these third world, uneducated people outwitted the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, Our president, The Military, The NTSC, The FAA, The anti missle batteries that flank Our WhiteHouse, and the Pentagon, Outwitted Wolfowitz, Connie Rice, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Norman Augustine, and a host of others who knew about the put options taken out on American and United Airlines, ignored FBI warnings, as well as those from Interpol, Russia, and other countries, and allowed this to happen. Check the internet for info on this if you dont believe me, unless you would rather believe the media, like Our peacock station which is owned by General Electric, who also manufacturs weapons for the U.S., and is making a fortune selling weapons of war to fight this so called war. Remember, with the fall of russia, and trade with China, the U.S. has no real enemies left, except these "So called" terrorists. Seems awfully convenient, doesnt it? Look up an article by Rumsfeld called "The New Pearl Harbor", a most enlightening paper by The Rumsfeld Commission, for starters. Hope this helps.

Apparently people are ignorant of why we are there - but that isn't your answer. To be honest, enlist in the Air Force or Navy. They have the best technological schools, and you'll have more a chance to get a job with military service on the resume. I'm a Soon-to-be Devil Dog, so good luck. Six years is not a long time for your contract of enlistment

To answer why we are over there - False intelligence from the CIA (Not OIL) telling George that Saddam had WMDs. Also...if you didn;t know..Saddam commited genocide. Do you know what genocide is? That's like saying, "Oh, Hitler commited genocide, but I wouldn't invade his country to stop that." Now Afghanistan, we have all the right to occupy that country. Maybe Iran too. They think Israel should be wiped off the planet...do you agree with that? No? Then stop criticizing our Troops. American, British, German, etc etc.

Well, I'm sorry I don't know what a C.S. degree is and I'm sorry the job search is not going well. But joining the reserves just for a job is a very poor reason to join. And, unlike other jobs, you can't just quit when you get bored or want another job. You're in it for the long haul. Think about it hard before you decide.

The reserves is a great idea. The only problem with the Army is they have the longest deployments(12-18 months) while the other services are just 4-7 months. I would talk to a recruiter from every branch(even the Coast Guard) and see what they have to offer.

Go for the Army. It looks good on a resume, and will allow you to gain new and valuable skills, like the electronics training you mentioned.

If you just go to the reserves you are going to do both....unless your unit is activated you only go once a month and 2 weeks a summer....most of the time....you have to follow your heart...don't join if you don't really want to....once you sign you are stuck....
