How many US service members have served in Iraq and/or Afghanistan since the start of operations?

well, we've had about 20,000 a year for almost five years in Afghanistan, and about 150,000 a year for over three years in Iraq. So that's 550,000 troops. However, many troops have been deployed more than once, so the real number is a little more than half that. Then there's the question of Army, Navy, Marine, and Air Force personnel who've served in the Persian Gulf supporting ops but not actually in the two countries. That could easily be another 100,000. I figure "half a million" is a good ballpark answer.

Also bear in mind GWOT includes alot of other operations around the world.

I haven't figured it out yet, but I'll put a ball park figure
on it and say about 250,000.
