I would like to know how life is in the Coast Guard??
I wanna be an Avionics Technician.

I was considering the Navy, but it sounds like they leave for a long time. And that concerns me because i wanna see my family as much as i can. Will it be better to join the CG or will it be the same?

Will i be able to go to college in the CG?
Do they have bases?

why when someone askes a question on here like "what do you think of the war" all the answers are "i hate it" and "its so stupid" every single person says it. then if someone asks a question like "what would you do if korea invades america" everybody says, "go to war" or "load up the guns and head out." .......arent we in a war situation, why would anybody disagree with this war that we are in and agree with a war that we even thought about doing yet. to sum it all up 'iraq invades us and kill thousands, nobody agrees with the war. korea doesnt attack us and everybody wants to got to war with them!'

I have scoliosis,but it's idopathic (cause unknown) and mild. I don't have any back pain from it and I really want to join but I am not sure if I would still be allowed. So if anybody can answer this question for me I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm thinking about joining the Marines and one of the areas that I am least familiar with is Recon. What exactly is it? I know that it's kinda like scouting out the area but i've also heard of Force RECON which I am clueless about. I know the swimming requirements are more extreme (the recruiter I went to said that there are several different stages of the swimming test that you have to pass. Examples he said were picking up a weight at the bottom of a deep pool then bringing it up and swimming with it on your chest) A great uncle of mine was Recon in Vietnam but i've only met him a few times and didn't think to bring up Vietnam with him. So anyways what does RECON do?

I'm thinking about joining the Marines and I am interested in few areas of training, one is becoming a scout/sniper. I first heard about it by reading a book on one of the Marines best snipers Carlos Hathcock, the White Feather. I was most intriuged not by his kill count but by his use of camoflauge and his amazing tactical skills. I know i'd have to become infantry of course, but what steps do I take to becoming a scout/sniper?

I am currently trying to identify those regions in the world which, even though souvereign states, will be most unlikely to get dragged into wars when whatever is happening now in the Mid-East and Asia escalates (includes terrorist activity). I am trying to create an overview over legislation in place in English-speaking countries pertaining to the likely age range of conscripts to be drafted from the civilian population when martial law is being declared. There is enough data out there about the US, but seemingly none on New Zealand and Australia. Can anyone help?
