I thought I'd try my hamd at writing a crime story, but I know squat about police procedures. In my story I plan to have the criminal having done something wrong. The police know his name but they don't know where he lives, or what he looks like. How would you catch him? Thanks!

I passed a 60 MPH speed sign at 74 MPH and another speed sign just a hundred yards away of 55 MPH at 70 MPH. I pulled over immediately and got two SEPARATE speeding tickets. There are two different speed limit signs (60MPH-55MPH) within very close proximity of each other. One ticket shows 74 MPH at 60 MPH speed limit. The other at 70 MPH at 55 speed limit. Wouldn't that be double jeopardy - multiple punishment for the same speeding offense? I'm willing to plead no contest and pay one without a trial but I don't think it's fair I should pay for two speeding tickets. I was ticketed only for speeding - not like I evaded anything. If this is legal, those who flee from police officers and pass 20 different speed limit signs in and out of the city - are they ticketed for each speed limit violation?

I don't think so but then again I'm no attorney. An answer to my particular case is what I'm seeking.

Thanks to anyone who can give me some insight on this case.

After being pushed way beyond the limit with emotional abuse, I threw a hair clip at my live-in boyfriend, which hit him on the forehead, near his hairline. He immediately retaliated with a blow to my temple, using his fist. I suffered from a huge knot on my head and bruising that lasted more than three weeks. At the time, I wanted to call the police; however, I was afraid that I would also be arrested for throwing the object at him. Although I realize that it was wrong to throw something at him, I feel that what he did to me was not justified.

I have a grudge against police officers, I will admit it. It deals with police being very unprofessional towards law obeying citizens to put it nicely. I also know considering the type of people police deal on a daily basis, and I understand why they are not too trusting of the public either. However every time I ask an law enforcement issue on yahoo answers, those with careers in law enforcement are kind polite and informative and it lessens the hard feelings I have against them. Yes I know this sounds like a loaded comment, this is however geared to those in law enforcement. Does yahoo answers lessen the divide between community and law enforcement and brings a better sense of community between the two in your opinion?

so I saw this show on court tv about a group of 20 - 30 people that would walk into a grocery store, act like customers, shop, stand, read newspapers, and ask workers for help, while 3 women would sneak back to the office and steal everything in the safe, then they'd walk out, talk in hand signals and then the crowd would slowly walk out.

splitting profits of $40,000 and up.

any info on names, locations, or even URLs concerning these types of crimes.

Before I met my wife she was involved with a guy. Their relationship ended badly over a year ago. He tried to weasel money out of her after they broke up & he got nothing. Now, fast forward to this year. I had heard everything about the guy but had hoped he was something in the past. His mail was still coming to our house (he was using our address without us knowing about it for credit purposes) but once process servers and a sheriff came here looking for him, I began to point them to his place of employment & would forward his mail by putting a sticker on it with his address. I think he was unaware that I was the one doing it and assumed my wife was still single. Last Thursday someone destroyed our pond in the front of our house. I know he did it because my wife said that he had built the point and wanted compensation for it. Without any proof, when I go to court, do I attack his character? Everything I have is circumstantial.

Two deputy sheriffs suspect that a man named Earnest is making moonshine on some property he owns in the county. Earnest owns about ten acres in a remote area in the county. No one lives on the property. The deputies can not get probable cause to get a search warrant for the property. They have heard Earnest is involved in illegal moonshine and they know for a fact he is not making it in his small apartment in town.
One night the two deputies get bored and drive out to Earnest's land. The land is surrounded by a fence with "No Trespassing" signs on the fence. The two deputies scale the fence and begin to look around. They find a large shed in the middle of the land. The shed is locked. The deputies have to use a flashlight to look in to the shed's boarded up windows. When they do they see a still and what looks like a marijuana grow operation. Can the deputies use this information for a search warrant or is this a 4th Amendment violation? Why?

so i was driving down this main road and was looking for a place to grab dinner with my gf
we turned right at this one street to see if the restaurant was open and it wasnt so we turned right again and saw coulple cops and got alittle nervous and turned right again to go back to the main street and as soon as i turned i found my self being honked at by a car and realized that i was going the wrong way at an one way street. so i quickly turned into the closest ally way which was like 2 seconds from where i had turned and got back on the right road.

about 5-10 mins later a cop pulled me over and asked me if i knew i went the wrong way on a one way i admitted i made a mistake and didnt see a one way sign. as it was an ally way with no visible sign that said one way. he gave me a ticket for failure to obey the L way designation and my fine was $336!

what should/can i do to lower this fine? this was my first ticket and i think $336 is too much

A year ago a retired newly widowed man moved to my North Central Florida neighborhood. He would drive to my house inquiring if I would sell my property to him and I made it clear that I had lived there for 10 years and had no intentions on moving.

He would then come over to ask me out, give me info and I soon began parking behind my house, not answering the door and he would still pull into my driveway and sometimes walk on my property.

My neighbor lady at the time said he does that sometimes when I am not at home also.

Legally, what are my options to prevent him from coming to my home and property? I cannot afford a privacy gate and do not want one anyhow.

Did the LA Sheriff Dept have the legal right to let Nicole Ritchie out of jail after 82 minutes of jail time? I know when they let Paris Hilton out of jail the judge made her go back and do her time. How can the Sheriff let them out of jail legally? Doesn't only a judge have the right to make that decision?

Maybe you dont get signed up for these jobs you just get relegated to do them then i guess i kind of understand but basically what im saying is everyone hates you dosent that bother you.

I have a friend who is a private investigator and was doing some work down in Sarasota, Florida when he was arrested for an unpaid traffic ticket. (It was either speeding or parking I'm not sure which) When he called his fiance' from jail she was prompted to enter her credit card number for a $50.00 fee and also that bail is not available. We all live in Tampa, Florida so we really don't have any clue what the fee would be for and why bail wouldn't be available for just a single unpaid ticket...

I just want to know opinions on the CCW laws. Do you agree citizens should have the right to carry concealed? Why or why not? I 'm in Missouri & we are newer to CCW. I have always had a small handgun of my own just for self protection at home. I do feel it is our right to CCW within the law, then again I hear many are against guns of any type for any reason & all they can say is "guns kill people". Do they not realize even if guns were illegal for everyone, the criminals would be the only ones with guns? I recently got my permit to CCW & didn't want to take the class an an only woman so I ask a few friends to go with me & was amazed that about 25% had already got permit & were carrying 24/7 basically & the ones that didn't want to CCW were so against guns in general, they said they "didn't want to hear it". Amazed again in class with about 75% of the class was women.
