A year ago a retired newly widowed man moved to my North Central Florida neighborhood. He would drive to my house inquiring if I would sell my property to him and I made it clear that I had lived there for 10 years and had no intentions on moving.

He would then come over to ask me out, give me info and I soon began parking behind my house, not answering the door and he would still pull into my driveway and sometimes walk on my property.

My neighbor lady at the time said he does that sometimes when I am not at home also.

Legally, what are my options to prevent him from coming to my home and property? I cannot afford a privacy gate and do not want one anyhow.

Well, technically I'd say he's stalking you... I'm serious, it's no longer simply a trespass. If you have dates and times that he has been at your home, you can contact the police right now and file a complaint against him.

Even if the district attorney declines to prosecute it, he will be contacted and interviewed, hopefully that will put some common sense into his head to leave you the hell alone.

next time he comes and you are home tell him you don't want him on your property and if he continues you will contact local law enforcement. If he continues contact the police and explaine what has been going on, you might be able to get a restraining order, which won't keep him off your property but will get him arrested if he breaks the order.

you should also put up no tresspassing signs

Put up no trespassing sings prominently on your property (this will help your case). Every time he enters your property ask him to leave, if he remains, he is trespassing. Call the police, and maybe an attorney to file a restraining order.

He shows up again, call the cops again, eventually he will get tired of fines and jail time.

File a police report. It is possible that you might have to get a restraining order....but my guess would be that after the police talk to him and tell him not to trespass again he will abide by that. In order to protect yourself legally you might want to post a couple of no trespassing signs up on the property.

Next time he comes to the property call your local police. In their presence you can "trespass" him from your property.

Should he return after being "trespassed" you can have him arrested!

If that doesn't stop him...you may ask your local authorities about criminal stalking!

Best wishes.

You should go to the police station and tell them about your problem. If you tell him to leave and he doesn't or he returns, you can then prosecute him for tresspassing. Right now, his defense is going to be that he did not know you didn't want him to visit you.
