I strongly suspect that a statement about me was made to the Police some time ago by someone I know. and who I worked with at the time. The statement was to do with an assault offence (GBH), and to cut a long story short, no charges were made at the time due to lack of evidence. In a nutshell, I have only recently come to realise that the person had probably made the statement behind my back to 'help somebody out' because of their behaviour and attitude when I questioned them about it recently.

My question is to ask anybody who may know how long Police statements are kept on 'record' or 'file' for, and what course of action could I take regarding this matter. Are all Police statements kept on file for an equal amount of time, or are some kept on file for longer than others? Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Thanks,

I need an advice of a lawer for my boyfriend. A couple of days ago he hit one guy in a night club. I'm sure that that guy must have done or said something bad to him, because my boyfriend is very calm by nature. So that guy reported an asault at the police station and my boyfriend was taken there the next day. They took his fingerprints,DNA,questioned him as if he is such a bad criminal. He came back home and was very very upset. He was told to come back to the police station in about a month time and meanwhile the police will try to investigate this case and if they have enough proofs then this case will be taken to court. I can't believe this can happen, so often you can see guys figfting in night clubs because they drink too much alkohol. But my boyfriend was djing at that club that night so he wasn't drunk AT ALL!!! In fact he hardly drinks any alkohol. So if the case will be taken to court, what are his chances? And what punishment can he get? I'm really worried and so he is.

This seems to be a classic theme in all police tv shows and movies, cops having to hand in their badge and guns, and only then are able to get evidence and bring down the criminal (who is usaully a high-ranking businessman or public official).

Does this ever happen in real life? I'd be interested to hear from real cops, who'll know if this have really ever happened (or is it just an overused story-line for cops shows).

Do you think the United States is turning into a police state, and is this a good thing for your "security"? Should liberties be given up for safety? Do you think the SWAT team training sessions in public schools are a good thing?

Hey guys,
I passed the preliminary written psch test to become a police cadet. They tested my hair for drugs and I just went to orientation. With that being said...I know I am going to fail my drug test for marijuana. After orientation I told the lead dectective of recruit investigations of my situation and he said, "we'll look at your test." and shook my hand. I hate an interview with a detective comin up and just wondering what you guys think my chances are for getting on? I wrote in my file to be handed into the dectective that I know it was wrong and all that. I also said, "I view my stint of drug use as a scar in my life. It wil always be there but there is a lesson to be learned from it. It is a scar that WILL NOT be reopened."
Thanks!

Now, I am not one of those people that blames the media and television for causing violence. I'm not looking at it from that angle. I'm not saying these things CAUSE it, i'm just curious as to whether or not some criminals might get some of their ideas from these sources. For instance a bank robbery...or a way to break into a house, or something of that nature. Or the way to commit the so called "perfect murder." I've read a lot of those types of crime books and suspense stories, and I must admit, the authors can come up with some pretty good ideas. Same goes for the big screen. What's the likelihood that some criminals might get ideas from something they might have seen or read? Is it highly unlikely?

My girlfriend was pulled over at the age of 17, given a ticket for dui and then released on the scene to her parents and there was never a court date or anything, just a fine. Now 6 years later she was hired for a new job then told that they can't keep her on because the dui caused a problem with the company insurance that is required for her line of work. Is there anything that can be done if anything at all?

a friend agreed to pay my credit card bill in exchange for letting them make a purchase. They used a fradulent check account and charged more than $5k.
After speaking with the bank, I disputed the charges. It was turned over to fraud services and the culprit later agreed to pay the merchant directly so I didn't give their name to the bank.

I finally told fraud dept that I knew the culprit and that they would pay the merchant directly.Turns out the merchant and the culprit are friends and he is fighting the chargeback. He says that he has not been paid but I later found out that the merchant issued a check to the culprit for difference in what was charged to my account and what was purchased (more than $3k).
The culprit has a long criminal record and is facing charges in 3 states and is on the run now.
The bank is calling the cops and says that I have to file a police report, but am I in troubIe? I have texts and audio where he admitted to doing this but I gave him the info.
