If you were an adult when you did the crime, then you can't.
It'll be on your adult record the rest of your life.
Most employers will only check back 3 years, maybe 5, but not unless you're applying for a government orientated job will they check back farther.
Mail man, police, post office, prison guard, security guard, type of jobs they may look at the entire record and hold it against you.
I don't think there's a time limit for adult crimes, once on the record, unless found innocent, it stays on there.
Juvenal records are usually sealed at the age of 18 and it takes a court ordered subpoena to gain acess to them.

Felony and or Misdemeaner Convictions cannot be expunged....Only acquitals get expunged....If you were acquited make sure that fingerprints, photos and Local, State and FBI and NCIC records are removed

Generally you can't, unless there is evidence you have been wrongfully accused and convicted of the crime. If you don't have this proof, then you can almost forget about it.
