In the UK, You can join the police at 17 if you have previously been a member of the Police cadet scheme which some Constabularies run. Usually though, its 18 but as a rule of thumb, you have to bear in mind that you are up against 100s of applicants and it is the same as any other job, the most suitable applicants are accepted and police forces tend to go for persons with a good level of 'life experience'. That should not discourage you from applying as you may be an outstanding candidate. Good luck, if you dont succeed 1st time, try again.

Depends on the State/ Country
In Australia it's at least 18 years, with a year 12 ceritificate. In 2007 Australia is bringing in the "police studies degree" which in a tertiary course preparing you for the force.
In America:
* New York Police Dept - 21yrs
* Memphis - 21yrs
* Atlanta - 20yrs
Go to your state's police department website and click on the employment/ careers/ "join us" link and the info should be easily found there.
Basically, the age you can join the force is the age you become recognized as an adult in your state.

In the US you have to be atleast 21 (21 is the minimum age to possess a handgun). There is no discrimmination between states about this. Check local authorities in regards to education requirements. Many only require a H/S diploma, unless you plan on becoming a detective.

In the UK I think its 18, I'm also pretty sure you have to have a clean driving license as well.
Don't think you need formal qualifications like a degree (it would help perhaps), you might need to have your english and maths at gradeC at GCSE
They seem a happy bunch so it can' be too bad a job, plus i've heard they earn good, the only downsideappears to be that it is a tough job and you have to work shifts

In most places you have to be 21 by the time you graduate the training program. You will have to be 21 before you are hired.
