I was walking home across a housing estate, it was just getting dark and I heard a woman shouting 'Help Help'. I ran to were she was on a small patch of grass and a youth aged around 20 had stopped on his bike and was violently trying to grab this ladys handbag off of her. I could see clearly that the woman was in in danger and she has blood on her face (He had punched her in th face before I had arrived). Without thinking I ran at him and pulldozed him to the ground (I didnt know at the time but he fractures his rist when he went over). I grabbed him and gave to the woman my mobile phone to call the police. I held him there for a few minutes until police arrived (Being called every name under the sun by him of course). When the police arrived he was arrested and put into a cop car. The police and lady thanked me repeatedly. The police got into the car...and then a few minutes later they got back out and told me that I was under arrest for assault as the man said he's pressing charges

When the actual possesion of a radar detector dosen't cause you to break the law only possibly influences you, why are they illegal? If a government agency is monitoring you without a warrant shouldn't you be able to posses technology that could identify this to you?

I use to live in VA where they were illegal, I got 3 tickets, twice it wasn't even plugged in (if it's within possesion it is illegal by VA state law). I live in FL where they state government acts as it should according to the US constitution.

Will we actually become more secure? UK Home Secretary, John Reid has suggested that we need to voluntarily give up even more freedom to defend ourselves against Terror. Strange, because his policies have done more to foment and fan the flames of terrorism than anything else, and he still give no guarentee of security.

Is this just fascism? After all When Americans where funding the IRA to bomb Lindon and Manchester, we didn't need to give up our liberties then? so Why now?

In August 2004 I was suffering from severe depression and mental illness when i tried to commit suicide, during the course of this, police arressted me and showed no compassion nor respect for me and took the advantage of assaulting me resulting in injury. I have not been able to find a lawyer that is interested in helping me to take legal action to show that my human rights were violated and my dignity ignored as well as being unlawfully injured by the police.

I have received an email lately from a man that called himself Edward Williams. He said that he was a llegal practitioner of Williams & Associates in Malaysia. He tolf me that a distant relative of mine had died and had no close relatives. He said that this person was worth $5,200,000 and that since he had no close family that I could be the beneficary of the money.Obviously it sounds like a bunch of lies and I told him that I never dream of giving him money to get money or sign anything without having a lawyer look at it first.I actually watched a Dateline NBC program on this kind of thing.I am just curious if anyone has any real info for me on this kind of thing?

got like mugged like 3 weeks ago, and of course for obvious reasons, I dont want it to happen again (hit 3-4 times, knocked out, got back-pack stolen).....Im NOT NOT NOT gonna carry gun, or a knife anything like that....but I have seen these like key-chains type things...kubakons, brass Knuckely type things, to have when your walking to your car.(SELF deFence purely).....What if i had that one of those type things on my keys (I heard Brass Knuckles were illegal, concelled weapon)...and was walking to my car, get attacked, use IT on an attacker, and really hurt him, or even kill him....do i go to jail, or get fined, or get in trouble?!?!?! EVEn if I was just defending my self????

Im looking into some classes about, how to take an attacker down, but it seems like one of those would be good to have as well. ANyone know the law, in which you defend yourself with a weapon that isnt like legal, but you use it purely for Self defence purposes ???what happens to YOU???

I had decided to go get a soda from the machine at von's around midnight. I took my bicycle. On my way back I noticed a police car silently pass me, something in myself said "hm.. I hope not". I stopped for a light, one block from home, when the same car appears behind me. I tense up & see and hear an obvious lesbian dyke-y cop in the passenger side say "are you ok ma'am?". Nothing was going wrong. I say "no, no crimes here".She proceeds to get out of car, ask me get off bike, frisks me, touches my breasts as well, ask me if Im "on drugs", argues that I have an attitude, ask me if I "graduated from high school" and "are you stupid!?". All kinds of insulting, demeaning things. Now they switch their story and say I don't have my bike lite on. I am totally STUNNED, as a carload of gangbangers slow down to watch and the real crime gets away!!! I keep saying "what did I do?". The male cop bellows "we don't like your attitude!!" What can I do. This is harrassment & I was traumatized :(

My husband got into some trouble and got a diversion for a felony charge. This happened 2 years ago, and he has completed all of the community service and paid back what he had to. He wants to get a job as a police officer when he comes home from Iraq. But a recruiter that he talked to, said that he, and every other police station wouldn't hire him bc thats on his record. So will he ever be able to be a cop? He passed the Army's background check. He can go to Iraq for 16 months, but he can't be a police officer?!

When it comes to high speed car chasing, is it very common that there are many bad guys who are confident enough to think they can outsmart police deputies?

When in fact, police can outsmart their suspects, and catch them in custody.
