Is there a maximum weight that u can't exceed in order to be a cop?

Because I'm tired of wondering if fat cops will actually be able to chase bad guys and protect citizens (no offense).

Actually, I think most cops in my town are pretty great. They are friendly and do their best to protect everyone. Laws are made to protect you, even if you are an idiot.

The vast majority of police departments require anybody wanting to join to be able to pass a physical fitness test before being hired.

Many departments then require their officers to complete and pass physical fitness tests once or twice a year.

Even those departments who don't require actual tests on a regular basis do still require their officers to maintian a certain height/weight ratio. That means if you are X'XX", then you must weigh less than XXX lbs. Age is also taken into account as part of this ratio. Since muscle weighs more than fat, someone who is in very good shape may be over that height/weight ratio limit. In those cases, the officer will likely be subjected to a body fat percentage test, and their body fat percentage must be under a certain percent.

Well it depends on the Police Department and their physical fitness policies or the States or Province.
In Canada, all officers have to past the P.A.R.E. test which is a physical test consisted of running and obstacles. You must pass it under 4 minutes. If you don't some Agencies will place that officer on report. so He/she got to train to do it and pass it. Some Dept. have no follow up but will provide all the necessary tools for the officer to loose weight (if that's the problem) and train.

Not because you're fat that you can't run (bears are fat and fast). I know people that are thin but can't sprint or run down the road. Most foot pursue are quickly over. Cops use radio, cars, helicopters and dogs. No one can outrun radio frequencies, helicopters or a dog. However I'm also some what disgusted to see so many overweight officers, especially in the USA for some reason. And for all, 99% of police work is mentally demanding i.e think fast, observe, make a decision and act.

Of course not, Pigs are usually fat and stupid. I would think that an actual PIG on a farm could do a better job than these douche bags that think they are doing a civil service by enforcing their power. Who cares about the rights of any individual right? hahaha. Cops dont, and I woudlnt expect a smelly grease bleeding piece of crap too anyways. I think most cops must be pretty miserable.

You must pass a PT test to get into the Academy. A lot of guys don't keep up with PT after they go through the 7 month program. I agree that all Police Officers should stay in shape. People in prison work out every single day.....so should we.
