Ok heres my situation..my girlfriend is 17 years old. I am 21 years old. Her parents have decided thats too much of an age difference which I think is a bit ridiculous. So we were wondering, if it comes down to it, can they charge me with anything as far as like statutory rape or can they make her come home if she were to decide to stay here without their permission? This is in maine. Basically Im wondering what exactly the police can do about it, or if they cant do anything? Thanks =)

I applied for the Sheriff's department and passed my, physical agility, written, and psychological. My harassment charge from 10 years ago is all they said was preventing me from the job. I had a $50.00 fine from when I went to my house and called my now ex-wife a name when I was picking up my clothes. I had caught her in bed with someone the day before. Am I screwed for life now?

I burned some papers while camping, and later a forest fire started. I was sure it was my fire, even though investigators a few times stated they weren't sure fire started where I was. Stupid me, I just thought it too big of a coincidence that it wouldn't be my fire. So I pleaded guilty of charge of reckless burning. Judge is having me meet with probation person to get further info to determine sentence/restitution. But I found a govt website that states "A report from the crew at the scene indicated that as of 5:30pm, (day of fire) fire was not north of Flick Creek."
But my campsite and where I burned papers was at least a 10 minute walk north of flick creek.
I don't want to pay big bucks to an attorney, just to find out 'the crew' made a mistake in their reporting.
Before I plead I asked to see case documents, but was told they wouldn't be available til after going to court.
Do you know when this info would be accessible to me? (i'm in washington state) Thanks

One night my friends and I decided to go to a bar to hang out. Everything was going ok. I was standing at my car, which was across the parking lot, talking to this guy. I then saw some girls trying to start a fight with a friend of mine. So, I went over to stop what was going on and attempted to get my friend into my car. I had a little to drink, I could've drove home legally. But, when I attempted to get my friend into my car, I pushed another girl by accident. At that moment, a guy jumped in and started to hit me, I did defend my self against this guy, and the guy I was talking to took him aside. The girls that were with this guy started to pull my hair in 3 differant directions, I did try to get my hair out of thier hands by pinching or hitting. I was also being hit and scratched as well. The cops did show up and claimed they saw the whole thing, which they didn't. I did have witnesses but the cops told them to leave, only taking the other sides story saying they were witnesses.

I am a married man whose wife was raped one evening. I have tracked down and located the individual and even spoke to him on the phone. of course he denies any sexual contact but his friend has a different story. What rights do we have? The police department said that if a trial is called and the perpetrator is found innocent, my wife could then be convicted of false testimony and become imprisoned for several years. I pray to God that the guy is telling the truth and the baby is mine. Please if anybody has any good legal advice, let me know, Thanks

I just found out, through my lawyer, that my daughter's dad had to take a drug test yesterday. We are going through a custody battle, if he comes up positive, what happens? Will his rights be taken away completely?

Do I have grounds for a legitimate complaint? And how do I go about it if I do?

I don't know why and I had no prior knowledge of my mailman's intentions. It upsets me that he took a permanent marker and marked his ugly penmanship on my mailbox! He put our house number on big and sloppy. I have a nice mail box and it sits on a wooden post that HAS metal decal numbers of my address!!!!

Can I report him for writing on my mailbox he wrote on the inside and outside! I see it as vandalism and damage. I hate pulling up my hill seeing his ugly writing on it and it kills me to think I'm gonna have to paint the dang thing.

Oak Lawn, Illinois is accepting applications for thier police department and one of the required qualifications is 60 hours of college. My enlistment in the U.S. Navy is over this November and after 5 years as a Military Policeman working in Force Protection/Anti-Terrorism, someone who has gone to a community college for a couple years with a degree in....Wait, it does not matter, because you could have studied ANYTHING, only the fact that you have 60 credit hours, not a degree, makes this person qualified and me unqualified? Someone please explain this to me, I called the number provided on the website and the woman told me that 60 hours is required and if you were military you get 5 points added to the test. How bout they keep thier 5 points and let me, and alot of people just like me, take the test and interview. Then if you do not want to hire me, ok. But the fact that I can not even take the exam because I am "unqualifed" is garbage.

Starting this season people attending games will be randomly searched the same way as airports. Your purses will be rifled through. Your entire body will be patted down. Watch ticket sales go down tremendously.

If so what happened?

If you are an officer who has been complained about or complimented what happened?

I understood that officers can be issued fines for not following duties correctly and that letters of compliment are kept on personal files. Is this correct?
