Everyday we come across police and brueaucrats who seem to be:
1. Blindly following the law. Without either interpreting it in terms of context or the sprit behind it.
2. Using the law for personal gain.

Wasn't the basic idea of all rules and regulations to simply make human life easier?
Instead we increasingly have a situation where we have become slaves to laws.

Consider this very strange law:
1. Any woman can file a complaint against her in-laws and have the arrested on a non-bailable warrant (no investigation required!). This is a law in India (and frequently used!).

Consider this very strange directive from a court:
1. Unless under extreme circumstances, a woman's complaint about rape must be treated correct.(What! Are we saying - no real investigation necessary !!!).

These are all attempts to hide a poor, inefficient and corrupt police system, by creating strange laws and directives !!

Have we lost the soul or the real reason behind creating any laws !!

Ok, I asked this question before, but did not get much of a response. So I am rephrasing it:
My hubby got pulled over without a license. The cops searched the car and found 2 marajuania roaches, a bowl, and a knife.
He went to court and they are charging him with:
Carrying a concealed weapon
Paraphenilia
Drug abuse

He plead not guilty. My question is:
Will he go to jail??? This was his first offense. Serious answers only please.

I bet he's noticed Saddam's grand-standing and probably has a rehearsed speach or two in case he is captured and brought to trial. This could only inspire more problems for the free people of the world. I know that we, the Americans, don't condone murder, but might it be better to cap his @ss and NOT put him on trial? Or is a trial the best way to set an example and for Justice to be done?

Through my experience with cops, they all seem to be living a middle class, mundane, squeezed by the nuts lifestyle, in which they take out their aggression on hard working people hoping to someday become arrogant millionaires...Is it true?

I was looking at the offender site for my neighborhood and discovered several in my area and one who was a child predator. I went for a walk by his house. In the yard was 3 young children playing and there was no man to be seen. I went by again and again and no man there. Im not sure what upset me more, that there was a predator unaccounted for or that he may be living with that 3yr old girl in the house.

we rung the police 2 hours ago.He has been abusive before at my door saying he didnt want my friend parking his motorcycle outside my flat. This neighbour appears to drink a lot & this is happening when he gets drunk.Iam not the type of person to confront him as i dont like violence & it has never been a part of my life.I suffer with Depression & my female friend who also lives next door to this guy has health problems feels afraid to go home.I don't want to confront him as i dont want to inflame the situation.
We have now rung the Police 3 times but are still waiting for them.
Does anyone have any suggestions what we can do as the Police have not arrived after 2 hours. Can anyone advise us what we can do now as we dont want matters to escalate while he is still hanging around. We live in the UK.

I was arrested the other day for a DUI. Before I took the sobriety tests, the officer asked me to spit my gum out. Then right before I took the breathalizer the cop asked what kind of gum I was chewing. I told him Orbit. He didn't say anything and gave me the breathalizer. My BAC was .08. I heard orbit gum shows up a little bit on the breathalizer. Can I make a case in court saying the gum put me above the legal limit (.08), meaning I would've had about .07, had I not chewed the gum, so I shouldn't recieve a DUI?
