These days it's pretty impossible to tell. Entrapment laws have been loosened to the point that most areas that have problems with excessive prostitution ALSO have many local law enforcement "stings" in place.
The old "myth" on the streets was that if you asked the potential prostitute if she was a cop that she was "required" to say so or the bust wouldn't hold up in court. Many people have been convicted of solicitation citing this myth in court only to have a judge basically laugh in their face when citing this "legal requirement."
Many states now have now also adopted "seizure" laws as well. That is to say, if you pull up to a potential prostitute and solicit her and she turns out to be a police officer running a sting, not only will you be arrested, charged, fined and possibly incarcerated for the solicitation of prostitution misdemeanor, the police will ALSO seize your vehicle and sell it off at auction just as they can do with a drug bust involving real estate and other property seized in a drug bust. To say that they're getting serious about this would be a great under-statement.
Add to this the possible risk of contracting a potentially lethal sexually transmitted disease (IE: HIV) and my advice to you would be to find some other avenue to satisfy your "rocks" as
the potential long term adverse actions involved in soliciting a prostitute greatly outweigh the tempory relief of your "rocks".

Well, my own experience comes from COPS and Reno 911, but I would say any hooker that looks classier than the usual ones, not as trashy maybe.
But I must agree.... why would you go to a hooker? Weird.

If she has a full set of teeth, chances are she is not a crack whore and could be a cop. If she doesn't stink or appear to be grimy, chances are she may be a cop. Umm, if she doesn't use street rhetoric or have a slur to her voice, my vote is cop, and finally when you ask her for said "business deal" if she doesn't touch you, I would guess you are about to get hauled off to jail. I would simply ask her to flash you prior to making any transaction. If "she" has man parts, she is probably a tranny hooker and I would say you might be safe in one respect on that call. I dunno. Use your gut feeling buddy and good luck. But please remember when we see you on cops, try not to look like a derelict or all trashy.

Great way to get ripped off, after all, what are you going to say to the police, that you were soliciting a prostitute and she pulled a knife on you? Not to mention that most are disease infested drug addicts and disgusting, because You probably can't afford a thousand for a high class escort. Take care of that business another way. If she's a cop and you are in your car, by the way, you lose the car.

Talk to your doctor about chemical castration. I heard of something called 'Saltpeter' they used to give prisoners years ago to supress their sexual urges and spearheaded their desire for man on man relations; i am not suggesting the man on man thing applies here, the bottom line is there is things you can do other than getting hookers.
In terms of identifying the cop prior to the purchase of their highly illegal illicit goods, there is no good method. I would recommend you don't contribute to the community of prostitution.

Well -- if she has sex with you, then she is probably a hooker. If she arrests you or pounds the crap out of you before getting her buddies to arrest you, then she is probably a cop. (either that or you didn't pay her)

When you are arrested and put in the back of a police car would be a pretty good indication that she is a cop.

Tell her you are not soliciting sex but you would like to have a dinner companion and are willing to pay. Wink as you are saying this. If she won't leave with you then she is most likely a cop.
