While working as a carpet cleaner as a kid, I was behind a shopping mall at night in the van. Cops tip-toed up to the van. I heard them coming, grabbed a large wrench (thinking they were bad guys) and almost jumped out to get the drop on them. I peeked first, and the gun was so close to my head, I didn't see it at first. Then I could see down the barrel.

The cop ordered me out of the van, and he was shaking like a leaf with his 9mm jittering in his hand. (This was REALLY disturbing.) He said low and shaky, "Don't F'n move..." I said high and squeaky, "I'm not." The other cop had a shotgun.

It was a bad situation. I could have been a statistic. They marched me into the store at gunpoint to verify my story, and the crew said, "This guy with us? Never seen him before...." Cops got tense again. Then the crew started laughin.

I didn't think it was funny. Cops left without an apology even.

I am currently on probation and it's a condition of my probation to go to all my mental health appointments and I have been going to my nursing appointments, but I missed with my pdoc, my group therapy and my case manager. I also told my PO that I have been doing my community service but I lied to him and told him about it in a voice mail I left for him last week. I see him on Thursday and I think I will go to jail. What do the rest of you think? Have any of you been in a situation like this before? If so, what happend?

Someone I love dearly is in prison for statutory rape. He was about 25 and she was, I think, 15. He will get out of an Alabama prison in 2008, and he could use some advice about his future.

I could use some advice about dealing with this myself. He was and is my true love. Whether we are to be together after this or not, I intend to be there for him.

I would appreciate any good advice and/or stories of personal experience.

Thank you.

IA friend of mine left his a car in a convenient store parking lot for two days with the owners permission . The store was out of town from wherew we live . I took him to get it today and it had been towed away . Surprised we were to find out that the store owner had it towed . Surprised again we were to find out it would cost a $150 to tow it 3 miles down the road for half a day . Is this legal ? I thought that in a public parking lot or a lot with public access you could leave car there for two weeks . Whats the law ?

My brother is politically active and has had violence incited against. He wants to get a gun for self-defense in his home. He claims to know about firearm safety and will keep the gun under his mattress (go figure). There are no children in the home.

What is more effective for protection, dogs or guns? Informed opinions only please. References would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, my husband was on his way to work one morning at 4:00 am. He was driving along and then came to a light. It was one of those times where you hurry and try to go or stop suddenly and maybe drive a bit over the white line. He decided to stop. There was a cop kitty corner to him. After his light turned green he went and the cop pulled him over. He gave my husband a ticket for "failure to obey a traffic signal." The cop said "If I wasn't there you would have went through the light."

My question is...can he give my husband a ticket for presuming what he would have done? AND my husband DID NOT fail to obey the traffic light, he stopped.

He decided not to pay the ticket and contest it in court...do any of you think he will win? It's pretty much the cops word against his.

PS he also refused to sign the ticket, but then the cop told him he would take him to jail...so he signed the ticket.
