I've become addicted to sites like friendsbeyondthewall.com and thepamperedprisoner.com and I want to find out what these folks did to land in prison... Can anyone tell me what to do besides simply googling them???

Most states will have an offender look up page on their DOC websites.

Talk to the court clerk of the county the offense took place in. Court records are public information, except juvenile cases. There may be a fee to cover the cost of researching the information.

I don't know. I went to college in Huntsville, Texas where they put people to death, and the prisoners there used to tell us they were all in there for forgery.

Run a background check.

Or better yet, forget that you ever heard of whoever.

court records are public records so if you feel like digging enough yes you can find out
