How do we (the general public) go about getting laws changed? I am feed up with hearing/seeing all non-custodial parents getting screwed. I see/read all these posts where the custodial parent is always wanting more and more and more. Should we be concerned about this issue? If this continues then non-custodial parents are NOT going to be able to even buy food, much less have a relationship. The laws and guidelines should be both FAIR AND ENFORCED. So how does this process work? What can we do to change it???

I am a woman who raised 4 children by myself, and only received $205.00 per month. So I am seeing this from both sides.

My sibling lives in the same state as me but in a different county. Is my sibling considered legally served since the papers were given to me? Should I do anything to contact the courts or the other party to alert them that my sibling does not reside at my residence? Do I need to do anything to protect myself?

Student at the school I attend are getting in trouble with the University for events that took place off campus. There are two different police forces: The university police and the city police. When a student is cited for illegal alcohol consumption (a charge for which they have yet to be found guilty for), the court automatically reports this to the University without knowing the outcome of the case. Most of the time, the entire incident took place outside of the campus and and in no way involved the university. How is the court allowed to disclose this charge to the university (remember nobody was found guilty), and does the university have the right to punish these students?

In the state of pa how many times do you have to be (punched, kick, assaulted) before you can use self defense.

Or is there no law and it is just implied immediately.

i think that new jerseys deceision to ban the death penalty is a real bone head mistake. first of all the old addage of "if you cant do the time don't do the crime" is appliclicable and capitol punishment DOES deter crime... just look at the statistics after the reinstatement. furthermore i think it is our responsibility to rid society of these unconsionable knuckle heads if only for the protection of others. life in prison without the possibility of parole is absurd and costs the tax payers billions of dollars that could be spent in other areas to benifit those that need it the most. why should we keep these social misfits in prison and allow them to have cable tv, access to libraries, provide them an education, give them access to gyms to improve their bodies when the majority of the populus cant even afford these percs themselves. its a slap in the face to hard working law abiding citizens in this country. i say fry their asses and be done with them.

I was driving home at night after a long day at work, and something... I don't know what, something smashed against my windshield. There was a lot of damage... but I didn't stop. I don't know why, I just couldn't. My brain wouldn't let me, but I don't, it could have been a deer, or a garbage bag, or something, but what if it was a person? What should I do? I can't go to prison.

It should be noted, that in several recent cases of Virginia, Texas, etc etc it was found by DNA evidence that innocent people were sentenced to death.

Even if 1 innocent person has the potential to be put on death row, then the whole death penalty needs to be abolished.

so it was right thing to do by banning death penalty?

I had a roommate that I kicked out because he wouldn't pay full rent, I caught him stealing from me, and he had abandoned a dog in the garage that I didn't use without me knowing about it. When I found the dog (almost dead) I told him to come get what he can and make arrangements to get the rest of his stuff from me because he is no longer welcomed. He had caused some damage to the property while he was living here, and because it took a few months to get estimates for the damages he had time to enlist in the military. To make a long story short he has been able to evade me serving him with a court date. When I talked to the judge about what was going on he said until he is off of active duty I can't do anything. Is there anything I can do to get this guy in court since the events I'm taking him to court for happened before he enlisted?

Is the head of a college allowed by law to say the following or is the law being broken and violated against ones human rights and under equality laws:

"Many people from your faith attend college on your day of celebration, you should attend an not take a day off, as you will miss education."

This is under British Law.

I wonder if the college head broke any law.

Your help with refernce will be appreciated

My son has not been a perfect father. I admit that. He has two daughters and a son. All 3 kids have different moms. The mothers of all his children are difficult to deal with and keep him from seeing the kids. The mother of the son moved 1000 miles away and my son couldn't locate her to get a court order for visitation and she refused child support through the courts so he had no way of paying support to his son, either because he couldn't find them. His son was killed in an automobile accident last month and nobody notified us until the other night when he received a phone call from the funeral home asking for payment on the remaining 3k dollars owed for the child's funeral. My question is can legal action be taken against her for not notifying my son sooner and does my son have any legal responsibility to pay this bill to the funeral home? The child had a 5k life insurance policy that my son purchased for him when he was born.

She has also taken all of her personal belongings without giving us a chance to go threw anything. Recently she told someone they could throw away all of her "stuff".

As an employer, we have various people work overtime and take vacation in the same week. Not uncommon at all, really. Do their vacation hours allow them to be considered for overtime?

For example, Mon-Thur they work 35 hours. Then on Friday they take an 8 hour vaction day. Do they get 40 hrs regular time and 3 hours overtime?

We have an irregular schedule here and work 7-4 Mon-Thur and then work 7-1 on Friday (w/out Lunch). Our issue is that most people take vacation on Friday... and it's really only a six hour day. If people take vacation on a Friday, they end up having 34 hours plus 8 hours vacation. We all do it, so it's not really "over-time," but it's technically over 40 hrs.

What should I do as management? If you can, please back up your answers with some gov't information.
