I was driving home at night after a long day at work, and something... I don't know what, something smashed against my windshield. There was a lot of damage... but I didn't stop. I don't know why, I just couldn't. My brain wouldn't let me, but I don't, it could have been a deer, or a garbage bag, or something, but what if it was a person? What should I do? I can't go to prison.

first off you should have stopped to see what you hit. If it was only an animal, you could have took it to the family it belonged to to offer compensation. If it was a person you should ask the local law enforcement if anyone was killed the night you think you may have killed someone. If it makes you feel any better you can just walk in there, don't think about it, and ask. Band-aid effect my brother, do it fast and it won't hurt. Wait and make it longer and it'll hurt like crazy. best of luck. god be with you.

Call the cops. They'll find you anyway... this is actually a pretty easy case to prove usually. No doubt people will see you messed up your car. A mechanic will report it, if your neighbors don't do it, and the DNA evidence will be obvious. You'll spend a lot more time in prison if you try to get away than if you just turn yourself in now, get a good lawyer, and try to get a reduced charge. Regardless, how do you know it wasn't just a deer or dog?

Although you did not stop you should have reported it to the police immediately cause if it was a person they could have been really hurt and in need of immediate medical attention. Near where I live a woman had a similar experience while driving late at night and did not stop but drove straight to the police station, she had a jeep when she got there and explained what had happened they realized that it was a teen (16) and he was on the roof of her jeep.

Unless you've heard about any hit and run accidents in your area, I wouldn't worry about it. If there was one, I would call the police and say you may have hit something, but you aren't sure and didn't see anything because it happened so fast.
Turning yourself in would be a lot easier on you than getting caught later and charged with manslaughter.

Relax. You don't know if you killed anyone. Just relax. I mean imagine if you fessed up and there had been no report of a murder. Then police are still going to think you did something, and they'll have reason to start an investigation. Forget it. Don't think about it. You didn't do anything; it's just that over-active imagination again. There's nothing left to be said.

You need to go to the police. It most likely wasnt a person, or else you would have heard about a hit and run. However, if it was a person, the situation will be much worse for you if dont go to the police first

Well, you have two options.
One is to hide it for the rest of your life, and always wonder whether anyone is looking for you, and where you'll be once they find you.
The other is to report the matter and get it behind you for better or worse. I'd suggest an attorney if you go this route.

It's fine, I do it all the time.
Sometimes I actually see their look of agony as their skull smashes into my windshield too. Those are the best.
Who cares if you don't get caught?

turn yourself in before your neibours do.....
if your car is damaged people will notice ..
or you could always go on the run....
Then write a book about your adventures and if your lucky it gets turned into a film..
