I moved out after I had given 60 days required written notice but my initial lease ends until september. I gave this notice over two months ago...now I am being told I had to pay until the end of the lease when in the beginning I was told as long as I give that 60 days notice I did not have to pay any penalties and the lease could terminate once those 60 days passed. What could happen if I do not pay?

I had a 15 year old foster daughter who lived in my home for a while and we grew a very strong bond. CPS moved her out of my home and back into her old neighborhood w/ a new foster family to keep her in her old school district. My foster daughter calls me daily crying that she wants to come back to my home and CPS will not listen to her. She doesn't care about the school being as though she is on independant study, because she just gave birth to her son. We have a very close bond and I have escalated up the CPS food chain to get someone to listen to her, and no one does. She has been moved twice since my home and still calls me crying. My heart is breaking and I want her back home with us. What can i do to help her, where can i go, What do I do??? Does she have any rights? Please help!

For example, the show To Catch a Predator. They pretty much have people helping law enforcement by enticement and lie about their ages to set these sexual predators up to be busted when they walk in the trap. I am in no way against catching these perverts and I know they must be doing it legally but how is that not entrapment. Did the definition change somwhere along the way?

I'm not saying that we should ban midde eastern people from flights nor incarcerate them on sight. But I think we would be wasting time and funds if we start closely examining about everyone and anyone. Though politically incorrect our national governments already do this. I mean if we look at the Islamic terrorists in Russia, or the terrorist attacks in Britain and here (US), wouldn't we be wasting our limited resources (time, funds, people) if we spent close inspection of Canadian white hockey fans, Jamaicans and Native Americans? If you look at the terrorists (Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, etc.) we're screening for, they're made up of people from certain countries.
I'm not saying we should grab and begin a lengthy interrogation on these people who could be innocent - that would be terribly wrong, but it would probably be better to keep a closer eye on them (for national & international interests) then fighting terrorism aimlessly.

I've stated mine. What is your answer to the question.

We purchased a used drier from a local, small business. The drier came with a 90 day warranty and after two weeks, it sounds like it needs a new belt. The business is unresponsive and owner now ignores our calls. When we visited the store, we are told the owner is the one to talk to but he is never present. What can we do???

My husband and I leased a studio for 6 months (lease end 09/07) but we needed it until August 07. The lease agreements states: "The term of this agreement will be automatically renewed on a month-to-month basis UNLESS either party provides the other with a written notice of termination AT LEAST 60 days prior to the end of the initial rental term...". We were told the first day that this translates to: The lease can terminate without penalties WHEN at least 60 days written notice is given. We gave our notice MORE than 60 days in advance and now we are told we still have to pay until the end of our lease term 09/07???? My husband was even told if we stayed one more day after July 31 we would be required to pay for a day...why was he told this instead of being told we had to pay either way???? I'm really upset and cannot go down without a fight...any input???

We laugh and shake our heads in amazement at how overly cruel and evil the Spanish were for their methods during the Spanish Inquisition, but here we are centuries later with the Patriot Act giving the Government similar powers. They can take you without telling you why, don't have to give you a lawyer...and this is all IF they suspect you of terrorism.
Strikes me as odd that we mock previous societies, then recreate their lunacy in the modern world..your thoughts?
And no smart ars3 comments please.

I need some help with legal wording on two motions I wish to enter into my upcoming court case. I make just enough money to not qualify for an attorney, and not enough to pay for one myself, so I need some help.

This is what I need some help figuring out: I wish to have the judge's(1st motion), and county attorney's(second motion) oaths (that they took when they took their offices) read into the trial record.
I suppose I could write it just like this, but usually if you don't have things worded perfectly for court, it can get tossed out.

Any help whatsoever, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

We wanted tickets to a certain sporting event, but they sold out within hours of going on sale. We were at work so of course by the time we got home we were out of luck. Now the tickets are all over ebay at jacked up prices. Are we left with no other choice but to pay the outrageous amounts? Are there not laws in place to protect consumers from this type of price gouging?

I told my sons employer today that he would not be in at work due to the extreme heat advisory we are having in Richmond VA currently. He knows my son is overweight and smokes, yet he also knows my son is under the age of 18. What right do I have in say so since I would be held responsible for health costs, if any, should occur with heat related illnesses? What rights does my son have in an "employment at will state-Virginia?" Additional info: My son is a carpenter helper and his current job is tearing out burned debris from a burnt home where there is no power. A generator would have to be run to even run fans. I know my sons boss could be in big trouble for not providing water/containers/ etc. but the guys basically buy their own without saying anything? I need advice. I am tired of this guy thinking he knows it all with my son getting all the static about his not showing up.

I need a answer to this question by someone who knows the law.My son file a habeas and as one of the claims for dismissal he had A.) ineffective counsel and B.)The 2 witnesses were not credible due to their inconsistent testimony at the trial.C.)The dectectives failed to gather evidence that proved the defendent was at the scene of the crime.(witnesses stated that he touched the table cloth and laundry basket) The defendents lawyer failed in arguing in the trial the inconsistance testimonies that the witness had given and no positive ID,light skin with braids, but they said that they were 100%,one said he had a mask on from the head to nose, and at another trail said he had a mask from his nose to his mouth. The other witness said that he didn't have on a mask also that the previous suspect told him what happened. It all makes no sense that someone would be In jail behind all these foul ups.The lawyer also fail to argue the dectives did not gather evidence to prove that the witnesses testimony was in fact true. The Attorney General is trying to get his habeas dismiss because she stated that A and B could have been raised at his trial or direct appeal and are not cognizable in habeas corpus because allowing them to be considered in habeas would
circumvent the trial and appellate process for non jurisdictional defects. Slayton v. Parrigan,215 va.27,30,205 S.E.2d 680,682(1974)Thus,claims A and B are procedurally defaulted and are dimissed. She also goes on to state that In claim C the petitioner raised this claim at trial and on direct appeal, and thus is barred from raising it in habeas corpus by rule of Henry v. Warden,265 va.246, 249,576 S.E.2d 495,496(2003)holding claims raised at trial or appeal are not cognizable in habeas corpus. Thus claim C is dismissed.Isn't this contradicting the previous statement she made about claims A and B? Could someone please answer this question for me as it is very important to by son's case.He does not have a lawyer and we have been doing this with him on our own(can't afford a lawyer)Please take the time you need to answer this question and if you can find a case in point please feel free to include it.
Thank You
Gloria

Ok I don't do this but I've always wondered why alcohol and cigarette are legal but marijuana is not. From what I understand does alcohol not have a worse effect on your body and mind than that of marijuana. And don't cigarettes cause more damage to you physically than marijuana.

I'm not saying that it is a good thing to do but from a legal point of view doesn't it make sense. If anyone knows of a place that says why it is illegal and and the others are not please tell. And I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Thank You.

my father told me that ronal reagan was a bad president because he raised taxes on goods necessary for life and lowered them on everything else so rich people could get richer and poor people would get even poorer.

i'm wondering, ron paul is a republican and supported ronald reagan apparently. but what views does he share with reagan? and does he make rich people richer and poor people poorer? because ron paul from what i've read seems like my kinda guy, he doesn't want to **** anyone over, but apparently ronald reagan did. so what's the deal? thanks

and why would ron paul vote for reagan if reagan did **** people over?
