How can the Judge ORDER them to reach a specific verdict?
I thought the whole point of a jury was that THEY decide the final verdict, so what is the point of having a jury when the Judge can order what they like anyway?

A case I just heard on the radio is being concluded with the Judge telling the jury NOT to find her guilty..
My husband is about to do jury service but if the Judge overrides the jury's decision, why bother?
I don't understand.
How does it all work?

I have written a book that (I think) will be useful to professors of certain college courses (to use with their students).

The book is written. I can have it bound and copied easy enough (just a simple self-publish). I want to write a letter and send out sample copies of my book to college professors-- along with an invitation to purchase copies for their class.

How do I do this legally? Can I legally start copying my book and sending out these letters? Do I have to officially apply as a business somehow? What about taxes-- I suspect most books would be sold to out-of-state residents, but I cannot be sure.

What do I have to do?

Well went to court abd my lawyer ask for a continues and we got it in the child visitation part. But my wife won the other orders. TMy wife lawyer stated to the court that being that I was in the house the house could not be sold. She stated that her agent attempted to sell but could not because i was in the house. Well what was said did not appear to be true. My wife lawyer stated that they had POTENTIAL person ready to buy the place, she also stated that the place was was on the market. Well the judge ordered my to vacate and orderd my wife lawyer to bring in documentation of this potential order and to bring proof that the house was on the market. Will it happen. We purchased the house after we were married. i signed a quick claim, which i did help with the morage. if they dont provide proof what could happen to them. what happens if they don't sell the house. Is there time to sell the house asking price for condo 400k others condos going for 345k is quick sale good?

I work at subway and whenever yor are short money in the cash register they take the money out of your check (Split it between who you work with). We never come up that short though. Every night we leave the register at $100, one night we had $319 even I droped $219 the person I was with made sure it was all in there attached it to the ticket and stuck it in the money bag (since our safe is broken and it would have been pointless to just slide it in there. The safe wont close so it just stays open. We left, and the next day the manager called me and said she was short $100 and that I only droped $119. Could I really be responsible for that since they don't have a working safe and I had a co-worker who saw me place the money in the bag, and she also counted it. Also are they able to take money out of your check at anytime when you are short.

Okay... so my ex came and stayed with me for a few weeks. To make a long story short, while I was at work he took some of my stuff and pawned it. He then pocketed the cash to buy alcohol. He says that there is nothing I can do about it because my stuff is already sold. He feels bad and wants to pay me back, but I don't want money. I want my stuff back. He probably wouldn't pay me back anyways because he just lost his job. Do I have any rights in this? Can I legally get my stuff back? Please advise.

I just discovered that an acquaintance who is currently seeking to regain her parental rights has been prostituting herself. She lives in a very small town where memories are very long. I have real concerns for the child's future, although the mother assures me that she will not do this once she regains custody. I am not sure I can believe her. I was formerly a mandated reporter and at that time my obligation was much more clear. She is somewhat developmentally disabled and suffers from bipolar disorder. My options are to 1. do nothing; 2. insist she tell her custody lawyer; 3. make an anonymous report; 4. make a report that isn't anonymous. I definitely made my thoughts on the matter very clear and she says she will stop, but this isn't the first time she has engaged this type of activity and I have my doubts it will be the last.

If both the male and female are responsible for the baby (as shown that they are both financially and emotionally responsible) then why does the female only have the say in aborting the child? Surely if the male does not want the baby and opts for abortion, but the women wants to keep it she should be the one responsible?

How can a guy have equal responsibility with the female, yet less rights?

Ten miles off of our shores, and I heard it was legal for them to get this close to our shores, then why aren't we doing more to change international laws so that our country can be protected? It seems as if the big shots in the White House are not even interested in protecting the American people! I have heard that this technology has the ability to knock out the power for a long time coast to coast. Is this true?

Not enough room in the question line, sorry. But I recently read an article in maxim discussing how a man will have to pay for a child once his name is on the birth certificate even if he provides DNA evidence to prove he's not the father (happens more than you think, especially to soldiers sent overseas) yet we get absolutely no say in the birth of the child? Isn't it a a little unfair to not allow the father to keep a baby that is rightfully his but legally require him to pay for the child if it isn't? I just want some good and well thought out answers please, don't be rude or ignorant whatever your viewpoint.

I agree that women who are subjected to physical or sexual abuse should not be subjected to the same penalty as a cold blooded murder.
However on the other hand I dont justify violence unless one life is in risk at the moment.
I feel that some women who use this defense were not abused and are using this as a way to get out of their punishment. I also feel that this defense will encourage women who are encountering abuse not to use other means to escape it and will use violence as their first option rather than a last option which was the only reason why many states allowed it to serve as a defense against murder.

At least, I don't think they're used in court cases....I mean, I watched plenty of trials on TV and they've never once used a lie detector. There was this one case where a man was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend's fiancee, but there was not much evidence against him besides his intense jelousy. I mean, even if if this man really did commit murder, they're still not giving him a fair trial since there really wasn't any solid evidence against him. Why wouldn't they use a lie detector? The poor guy might be sitting in jail for life just because the jury made the wrong guess!

I think it's a huge waste of paper and contributes to awful littering to constantly get flyers for carpet cleaners and cheap auto insurance on my car.

What's the harshest sign I can put on my car that isn't illegal somehow to deter people from doing this? Can I claim it's vandalism, harrassment or literring? I'm not trying to sue anybody but if people don't listen I'm willing to call authorities about it if that'll do something.

How about if I put a sign that says if they put a flyer on my car, I will put the phone number on the flyer up on craigslist as a someone offering phone sex?

This is a question about surrendering a life insurance police, but I have a problem.?
I have a dynamic life insurance policy that I was told I could surrender and use for my daughters college fund. The amount is nearly $7000. I am the owner of the policy and I am the one who is insured. Here is the problem: I got the papers in the mail that I need to sign and I saw that where the SPOUSE has to sign, it had my ex-husbands name. I called the insurance company and was told that because I bought the policy while I was married to him, it is considered community property (I live in a community property state) he has to sign the paper before I can send it back to the insurance company. Is this right? When we divorced he kept the house and land, his vehicle, his retirement and all his personal property, I got to keep my jeep, my retirement and my personal property. Wouldnt the insurance policy be considered MY PROPERTY? I really dont want to have to give him half when my daughter really needs the money for school.
