I think it's a huge waste of paper and contributes to awful littering to constantly get flyers for carpet cleaners and cheap auto insurance on my car.

What's the harshest sign I can put on my car that isn't illegal somehow to deter people from doing this? Can I claim it's vandalism, harrassment or literring? I'm not trying to sue anybody but if people don't listen I'm willing to call authorities about it if that'll do something.

How about if I put a sign that says if they put a flyer on my car, I will put the phone number on the flyer up on craigslist as a someone offering phone sex?

You can put whatever you want on your vehicle as long as it doesn't contain profanity or nudity or anything illegal. People have no right to put things on your personal vehicle, which requires them touching it (usually your wipers) so if a wiper broke they would be gone. Just make sure your note is'nt on there while your driving or you could get a ticket for obstruction of view. Good luck and again, people should'nt be putting anything on your vehicle unless they are willing to make some of your car payments for you.

Yes it's legal to put a sign to ask not have flyers.

But not it's not vandalism, harassment or littering (if they dont throw them in the ground is not littering). As a matter of fact they can claim "freedom of speach" that's why is legal to send give flyers.

I don't think a harsh message will deter anyone, probably they will put 20 instead of 1 just to get you mad (they know that if you are no near anyway there is nothing you can do to them). Try a nice "no thanks" or lie and say "wipper is broken don't touch, no flyers please".

Your sex line threats might get you in trouble, you can be sued over something like that.

Another idea is to start a movement to ban flyers on cars like the ban to calls from sales people.

You can put a sign on your car that says anything that doesn't make a threat, lie or use obscene language (well almost anything).

Your threat to put their number on cragslist as someone involved in phone sex is a bad one and I wouldn't suggest using it, however you can say that they can expect some rude phone calls in the middle of the night.

"Do not post flyers on this car. If you do then I will report the offender to the police for harassment." Is probably the strongest thing you want to post on your car. It is a valid threat, of course the police won't do much, but if other people start to complain then they will do something.

Without getting dramatic........simply print up a small sign to place in your car that informs people that you do not want flyer's placed on your car. Be sure to place it in an area where it will not obstruct your view. Possibly a small sign placed in the inside corners of your vehicle windshield would be sufficient as they would see that when placing flyer's on your windshield under your wiper blades!

Print up something to the effect as below:

For environmental reasons PLEASE DO NOT PLACE ANY FLYER'S OR OTHER ADVERTISEMENT ON MY CAR! Thank you very much!

I would NOT place their name on any list because if I remember correctly there may possibly be a law against doing such.

While trying to fix your problem try not to create more!

Have a good day!

You can do it, but will it do any good?
