I have recently been told by my landlord that he can evict me at anytime he wants. Just by sending a police officer over here to change locks on my door. I haven't seen any paperwork except a 7day notice. I called Legal Aid and they told me to call the courts. I called the courts and they say nothing has been filed. My question is can I get a PPO against my landlord until I move out on Nov. 11th?

Do we have to have a specific reason to modify current custody papers other than would like to be with the child more. Do we have to prove that she is not a good mother? Trying to get other opinions than the lawyer we spoke with hoping maybe someone that has had this situation knows some loop holes.

There is a man suing Target corp because he cannot access their web site.

I believe if he wins it would be a disaster. That would mean every web site and blog would have to be usable by blind people. If your blog featuring pictures of your cats is not blind friendly you could be sued.

Does a blind person have a RIGHT to the web?

With the passage of the Detainee Treatment Act of 2005, "no court, justice, or judge" is allowed to review habeas corpus applications by Guamtanamo Bay detainees. Are these "detainees" protected under our Bill of Rights, and if not what rights if any do they have? If they have some rights who should decide which rights they are granted, does the president have this power? Also with this and other recent legislation these "detainees" are to be tried in military courts, is this fair and lawful, or should they be tried in federal courts?

My husbands ex wife is using my husbands criminal history from almost 20 years ago against him. They share other children together and everytime he goes to court for visitation she uses his past history. So he does't get to see his other children. Child Protective Services is very familiar with her, because she always calls them and makes complaints and alligations against him. His criminal past deals with a sexual charge, in which at the time he was about 19 years old, his girlfriend was about 16, the parents didn't like him and pressed charges, he was scared and took a plea bargain. He served his time of a few years, and was released. He is not on Megans Law or any law of that sort. But his ex keeps using his past in every court case that they have. What do we do?

I have been receiving calls from some company's credit office, asking for my mom. I've already told them that she's out of the country and won't be back for at least 3-6 months. Then they asked me to give her a message. I did, but my mom said she doesn't have an account with them so she doesn't want to call them through long-distance. Then two days after the first call from the credit office, they called again, and I described the situation. Then they just insisted that my mom needs to call them. I said then it will probably be after 3-6 months. Then she said, "then I will have to keep calling". Which she did. It's been 1+month now, and they've called almost everyday, asking and saying the same thing over and over again. Sometimes in the morning when I am still sleeping, sometimes around 7pm in the night when I am having dinner. Is it ok for them to do this? Is there anyway that I don't have to suffer this?

On the one hand, I think if there is a slight chance to help those that are suffering then that is good,
on the other hand I wonder if it will 'encourage' women to have abortions or to be less 'selective' with whom they sleep with as they will just abort...

I have mixed feelings and I'm not sure.

In 1994 we purchased a computer,it was on hire purchase, needless to say I lost my job and the debt was passed onto a collecting agency. We offered them a certain amount which was refused by them, so I told them where to go. Just today we received a letter from an agency saying they had purchased this debt and were now looking for payment.I though after 6 years the debt was dead, could someone please advise.
