Until the 1950's First Degree Rape was a capital crime in California. Carl Chessman was the last rapist executed in California. Now I believe it is a Life Sentence, which means they can serve anywhere from 7-years to life.
Other states have different punishments.

This would depend on what State you are in. Rape is typically the most serious grade of sex offense, and first degree the most serious grade of offense so plan on a lengthy sentence.

In Iowa, 1st degree Sexual Assualt is a Class A Felony - Life, no parole

I don't think there are degrees for rape - there's rape and then statutory rape. I don't remember the exact jail term, but I believe it was somewhere between 5-10 years.

About 7-10 years. Also the sentence can be longer if they use a weapon

Not enough. They should cut off the convicted person's thing so it won't happen again.
