MY DAUGHTER WENT TO THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR TO DISCUSS A PROBLEM SHE WAS HAVING, A DEPUTY WAS CALLED IN, SHE WAS LABELED A "5150" AND THEN RUSHED AWAY IN AN AMBULANCE TO A COUNTY FACILITY BEFORE WE WERE NOTIFIED.SHE ASKED FOR HER PARENTS BUT WAS TOLD NO, WE WOULDNT BE NOTIFIED UNTIL SHE WAS GONE.THE DEPUTY TOLD HER THAT HER RIGHTS WOULD BE READ TO HER LATER - THEY NEVER WERE. WHILE AT THE FACILITY THEY TOOK A URINE SAMLPE IN SEARCH OF DRUGS.SHE WENT LOOKING FOR REASSURANCE, SYMPATHY AND PRIVACY. INSTEAD SHE GOT LABELED, LOCKED UP AND DRUG TESTED.MY DAUGHTER IS VERY SAD ABOUT LOOSING HER GRANDMOTHER AND HAD AN EMOTIONAL MELTDOWN, SHE WAS CRYING AND SAD. SHE WAS NOT HYSTERICAL OR VIOLENT, OR ACTING OUT IN ANY MANNER. LIKE ALL TEENS SHE'S THOUGHT ABOUT CALLING IT QUITS BUT INSTEAD WENT TO TALK TO SOMEONE SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO TRUST . CAN THEY DO THAT, CAN THEY JUST TAKE A CHILD AWAY FROM SCHOOL WITHOUT NOTIFYING A PARENT? THE PRINCIPAL DIDNT EVEN KNOW A STUDENT WAS TAKEN AWAY.

It was for $1150 and the judge said that it will be that amount PLUS the cost of court fees and interest.
The repairs (or so called repairs) were made in June of 03'
Any idea how much "interest" would be in this case?

In a civil suit, a defendant failed to answer timely to the complaint in the 20 days period. he did not request for an extention of time or responding to the notice of default. After filing the motions, the court clerk still did not enter a default against that defendant, anyone knows why or what to do?

I recall many US Albanians going to Kosovo to fight the Serbs back in the late 1990's. Could they legally return to the US? Because I thought that such a law was passed many years ago to prevent the Irish from joining the IRA, fighting and then returning to the US.

hi,
I have a few questions regarding Business Entity Information.
I made an online search on a coorporation(nevada secretary of state online database). The online report lists officers and shares allocated.
Firstly, does an online search admisable in court?
If not, how do I get an official report?
Secondly, I called the man who was listed as Treasurer and Secretary and he told me that he was merely a sales person and was never an officer for that corporation.
Is that legal to register someone as an officer without his consent?
If not, what rule does it violates?
(just to mention this man was not the first one who was listed wihtout consent)

A federal court has ruled that the NSA's domestic surveillance program, personally authorized by Bush, is illegal:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060818/wl_afp/usjusticeintelligence_060818004235

I still hear people defending Bush because he supposedly did this to catch terrorists. Does it matter at all to you that he broke the law doing it? Shouldn't he have used existing legal channels, which already allow secret surveillance?

If you supported impeaching Clinton over an inconsequential lie, I don't see how you can excuse Bush's illegal actions. (In fact, I'll retroactively support Clinton's impeachment if Bush is put on trial for his domestic and international crimes.)

Don't tell me that we should overlook legal technicalities to protect American lives, because Bush could have done all the surveillance he needed through the FISA court!

Does anyone have a cogent answer for why they support a criminal President?

I used to work repairing computers, but my boss was running the business into the ground and none of the employees were very happy, so I started toying with the idea of starting my own company. Once that got back to the boss, he fired me, but not before forcing everyone to sign agreements saying that we wouldn't disclose company secrets, wouldn't work for or start our own rival businesses, and a bunch of other rediculous stuff. It even gave him the right to search our cars at his discretion! I refused to sign it, but he threatened to withhold my paycheck until I did. I ended up signing it just because I needed the money so badly. Then he fired me immediately afterwards, leaving me unable to work in the only field I have experience in for the next 5 years (the agreement expires 5 years after signature date). I was just wondering if any lawyers our there could let me know if this thing will hold up in court of not. I'm in Virginia, USA, by the way. I know many laws can vary with location

Short story.....mom passed away...stepdad in nursing home with advanced Alzheimers. Process server tried to serve dad at home; spoke to me instead....advised process server of dad's whereabouts and condition. Process server left; going to supervisor for direction. Get call from nursing home that dad was "served" there. All this for a credit card bill. Besides the obvious of getting an attorney....what are my options, rights, etc?
I have power of attorney, and I do look after his care/finances. I stopped paying their bills due to dad's foreseeable increase in care costs. Can they make ME pay for this? Can they take my dad to jail???? Can they put ME in jail for non-payment? Is it legal to serve someone that is not mentally compentant enough to understand what they've been served?
