A friend of mine is currently in Vacaville State Prison, been imprisoned for over one year now, and wants to APPEAL his conviction (there WERE, indeed, a lot of mistakes and flimsy comments entered into "evidence"). I feel he has a good case for appealing the conviction he got (15 to life - RIDICULOUS !) The State of California PURSUED THIS CASE, not the widow of the man he ACCIDENTALLY RAN INTO in Redding, CA. The State of California "admitted" some past DUI's into the case that, by statuate, should NOT HAVE BEEN ADMITTED. And other things such as that -- HOW DO I HELP MY FRIEND FIND A "reasonably priced APPEALS ATTORNEY" to help him out of this NIGHTMARE. He is a good person, does have a few past DUI's (more than ten years ago) and that's ALL ! And yet they gave him such a STIFF, UNFAIR SENTENCE (we all feel).

THANK YOU for your HELP in this SERIOUS MATTER !! :>)

Why is it that if you pay a small sum, you can access peoples' names, addresses etc from companies such as 192.com etc.. What about data protection and what happens if you do not want your address to be known to the general population? How do you stop people accessing your address? For instance, say you were being stalked by a violent ex partner and you did not want him to find you after you had moved to another address?

because at the time when our founding fathers wrote the constitution, the world was a scary place, but now we have police officers that can handle that, plus, without weapons, we would have less crime or it would be easier to find bad guys.

Then why is Bush any different than we are?! HE LIED, PEOPLE, SO HE COULD INVADE A SOVEREIGN NATION, KILL AND TORTURE THEIR INNOCENTS, BRUTALIZE THEIR PRISONERS AND NOT GRANT THEM DUE PROCESS, AND HE'S MURDERING OUR OWN SOLDIERS AND STEALING OIL AT THE SAME TIME!!! And I'm tortured and embarrassed on a daily basis by his inhumanity toward the rest of the world, and his complete and utter IGNORANCE of the truth, as well as how to even FORMULATE A F**KING SENTENCE BY HIMSELF!! They assassinate the Kennedy's and the King's of this country, but they let the Fascist and truly dangerous people stay to rape and pillage the poor of this world just to bolster their own financial standings!! I truly hate Bush with a passion, and I hope the entire Middle East stands up to the imbecile one day like the Seinfeld soup Nazi and says, "No oil for you, you imperialist bastard!!". The oil that's meant for us should go to India and China--we should get NOTHING, and see what the idiot does THEN!!

I have a daughter who is owed child support (she is 3). He has 2 other children by 2 different mothers. They already have orders for child support on the 2 other children (3 different children, 3 different mothers). What is my daughters percentage? My daughter is the middle child if that make a difference. He hasn't given any money for 34 months and has had 4 different jobs since then, how is that added up for retro?
He is also wanting standard visitation (every other weekend). He hasn't visited her in 35 months. What can I request the visitation be until she knows him well enough to have standard visitation? He visits one of his children every other weekend and the other child gets a visit from him whenever he feels like it to visit although he has an order to visit the child every other weekend.

Ok, being my age (13), is there any way that I can be emancipated because of my situation? Or must I wait until I'm 16?
Because I have been living on my own for about 2 months, I support my self off of my social security checks that have lasted me both months, and every month I still have $$ left over from them, and when I get emancipated then I could legally get a job. and if you are simply going to say no, please don't post. If you have advice, then please share it, otherwise, again, please don't post. Thank You, and no offence.

1.woman gets an abortion it's called abortion not murder
2. woman kills herself while pregnent it just called a suicide and not a murder/suicide
3. a woman that is pregnent is killed by somone else is called a double murder.

Out of all three only one shows any signs of protecting the fetus/child and even thats an after the fact issue why is this and do you think it makes sense?

I am talking about John Stuart Mill's definition in On Liberty:
(paraphrase) "The government has no business regulating an individual's behavior if that individual's behavior causes no harm to others. Society has other tools at its disposal other than legal action to complain about an individual's conduct."

It seems that politicians and many citizens feel the need to tell people what to do here in the US. Same-sex marriage, War On Drugs, prostitution, etc. Other countries, found in recent studies, that are the happiest also have the "loosest" laws concerning individual behavior.

I always thought that America was built on a Libertarian philosophy and that, out of anyone, we should be the most liberal country. However, many people in this country buy into the "controversial" moral issues and focus on those rather than the real problems (education, health care, corrpution).

I do not understand why people feel the need to use the legal system as a battleground for these issues.

First off, I am a christian but I also advocate for homosexuals to marry. I believe that if some woman in Florida can marry a dolphin than this is a stupid question to begin with. I don't believe the government should have the authority to tell people who they can marry, although I agree with Elton John when he said we should draw the line at goats. If a certain branch of church does not want to permit it, than I believe that the church should have say. But the government? I mean, if we're not careful it's going to turn into Orwell's 1984 here. I thought this was the land of oppritunity and equality?

I didn't mean to rant - I guess I want to know what you all think.

I was convicted for Felony Theft when I was young, age 19, in Kansas now I am 33 living in Utah and want to get a rifle for hunting.
From what I can find, A) I can never have a firearm unless i get record expunged, or B) I can have a firearm if conviction was over 7yrs ago, and wasnt a violent crime Defined as "aggravated murder, murder, manslaughter, rape, mayhem, kidnapping, robbery, burglary, housebreaking, extortion, or blackmail accompanied by threats of violence, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to commit any offense punishable by imprisonment for more than one year, arson punishable by more than one year, or attempt to commit any of these offenses." (Utah Code 76-10-501(2))
I only had probation for 1 yr, fines, which was all taken care of after the 1 yr supervised probation.
So do I need to do anything special to get a hunting rifle and if so what?
