I was convicted for Felony Theft when I was young, age 19, in Kansas now I am 33 living in Utah and want to get a rifle for hunting.
From what I can find, A) I can never have a firearm unless i get record expunged, or B) I can have a firearm if conviction was over 7yrs ago, and wasnt a violent crime Defined as "aggravated murder, murder, manslaughter, rape, mayhem, kidnapping, robbery, burglary, housebreaking, extortion, or blackmail accompanied by threats of violence, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to commit any offense punishable by imprisonment for more than one year, arson punishable by more than one year, or attempt to commit any of these offenses." (Utah Code 76-10-501(2))
I only had probation for 1 yr, fines, which was all taken care of after the 1 yr supervised probation.
So do I need to do anything special to get a hunting rifle and if so what?
