I think this is one more useless law that if adopted will cause some illegal aliens to join the military or go to college (but only if they get caught). So far I have heard of a handful of illegal aliens who want to appeal deportation with this proposal.
I consider this to be an insult to citizens who should be allowed the same benefit, but maybe I am wrong. If an American citizen is caught breaking a federal crime, can they go to college or join the military and have the crime wiped from their records? Can they avoid jail with this proposed law? It is wrong for this "Dream Act" to even be considered. I do not care if someone is five or fifty, if they break the Federal laws, they should go to jail or at least get deported.
Maybe I just do not see a benefit to this Act, since as far as I can tell, the person could drop out of college anytime they want. They have to be of good moral characer, which means they must not have a "signifigant criminal record"? What is breaking fed law?

Most of the immigrants I know HAVE to learn English, its a matter of survival, so how come there are certain people who refuse to do so? Are they considered developmentally delayed with the brain the size of a "bean"?

My family is considering to migrating to Australia, but for a long time i've wanted to study law in US. I am very confused as to where I should live in the future. My main concern for US is safety (not street safety but terrorism and all that..) and difficulty in getting green card.

Please give some unbiased views on this, thanks!

It was voted into law today. It looks just like a legal persons drivers license and can be used to register to vote!!! Some say it will be challenged, but is law as of now!
Source:Lou Dobbs Tonight
I think in the light of this, any votes received from New York should be disregarded and other states should not allow people with a New York drivers license to drive on their highways!
That would get New Yorkers attention in a hurry!
Throw that whole bunch out of office!!
Hitlery refuses to get involved!!
She sees votes coming from those illegals!

Under the immigration law, a person can applied for the citizenship 3 years after obtaining the green card, if married to a US Citizen (five year waiting period for residence not married to US citizens). What happens if after the person applies for the citizenship gets divorce in the middle of the process? Would the application be rejected?

The White House is announcing the first part of a military assistance program to Mexico to help its military fight drug cartels at the same time the Department of Transportation is pressing ahead to allow 100 Mexican trucking companies run long-haul rigs in the U.S. without restriction. WND has reported a Drug Enforcement Administration report this year confirmed Mexican commercial drivers play a major role in the country's drug cartel traffic into the U.S.

The White House included as part of the Iraq Supplemental Funding Request sent to Congress today an unprecedented $500 million for Mexico and $50 million for Central American countries to combat transnational crime and drug smuggling.

The White House confirmed the requested $500 million was part of a $1.4 billion program President Bush has discussed to fund "security cooperation" with Mexico.

Half of you have broken some law (don't lie) or you have someone in your family who has, and most of your behinds don't work and if you did you woudn't especially like the idea of digging potatoes or husking corn.
So just hush your tired rhetoric about sp-called 'illegals because your daddy's daddy's daddy was an illegal and his daddy was responsible for the deaths of a people who were already here when they bought their tired thieving behinds on these shores. And don't start some nonsense about if it weren't for our 'forefathers' that I wouldnt be here. I know I wouldn't be here and neither would you.
So just get used to them. Take a good look around....they are everywhere. If it bothers you, take your tired behinds back to Europe where you came from.

It is primarily mexicans. To tell you the truth I dont know why they even group me with these people. I am closer culturally with mainstream america than mexico, vincente fox, or any of these protestors. Many cubans and puerto ricans actually like the united states..... american shouldnt group these people with mexicans.

I have been to a number of International Airports. But never found ant comparable to Logan International in Boston. Entering into the customs area I was always greeted with. "Welcome to the United States of America and the city of Boston." Then everyone was told of all the people wearing blue blazers to help everyone at entry control and customs. What a great place. I always had wished every US airport greeted everyone that way. My worst experience was Oakland International in California returning from Viet Nam in 1967. What a disappointment. But away from the airport, a cab driver made up for it. He was Lebonese. We talked and he reached out and turned off the meter. Then he stopped and bought a 6 pack of Michelob. Had a couple beers together. He was the first person from an Arabic country I had ever met. Though he was Christian. At the airport I had to deal with the protestors and though I was a criminal. And it was a foreign immigrant that welcomed me home.
