I think this is one more useless law that if adopted will cause some illegal aliens to join the military or go to college (but only if they get caught). So far I have heard of a handful of illegal aliens who want to appeal deportation with this proposal.
I consider this to be an insult to citizens who should be allowed the same benefit, but maybe I am wrong. If an American citizen is caught breaking a federal crime, can they go to college or join the military and have the crime wiped from their records? Can they avoid jail with this proposed law? It is wrong for this "Dream Act" to even be considered. I do not care if someone is five or fifty, if they break the Federal laws, they should go to jail or at least get deported.
Maybe I just do not see a benefit to this Act, since as far as I can tell, the person could drop out of college anytime they want. They have to be of good moral characer, which means they must not have a "signifigant criminal record"? What is breaking fed law?

The fact that they are even classed as "Illegal Alien" or that Citizenship of ANYWHERE, should be an issue, suggests any Spiritual considerations have long been cast aside. Someone coming from another culture , who wishes to live among people of your own Culture should be seen as a compliment, and not churlishly treated as if it were a deliberate act of invasion. This xenophobic, and insular attitude, is counter productive to any kind of positive cultural exchange. I don't 10 years of employment behind me, or even 10 years with no Police record, My Government wouldn't withhold my rights as a Citizen on these grounds, so if I thought it was right for them to do so to anyone else, would be a tad hypocritical. The economic situation engendered by States who declare migrant workers as illegal, is exploitative, and drives wages down. If the employment market was the same all across the board, then the same wages would have to be offered, for the same job, irrespective of where the person comes from. Of course, this would also mean that Taxation is the same for all too, so it's a win, win scenario,

I am not against the principle, but it feels like the author of this vversion of teh bill and the previous ones, basically holding agun to a childs head to let criminals come in. THere are a lot of fine prints to let more than just the illegal immigrants who came in while they were a child and have acted appropriately stay.

Even if we remove these extras, the bill would basically give the parent of the illegal immigrants an advantage of coming back to the US. THe child may be innocent, but his parents are not.

The is bad law and a back door approach to amnesty on a huge scale!

The students get amnesty and, based on tons of exceptions, they don't have to even finish high school. But, after they are citizens, their family becomes citizens and their family and their family!

It is insulting to every person that has worked and waited to become citizens. Amnesty will bankrupt this country. IT IS WRONG!

of course, at the age of 2, you get to say, NO I WANT TO STAY HERE.

People keep crying about how our countries ability to push science and engineering on school isn't working. The DREAM act ensures that those illegals (who didn't have a voice about coming here or not) who came and did what they were told, who studied their butt off in school, and are now about to attend college can go on and be a great asset to their country. Most of these students who benefit consider themselves part of this country if they really want to make a positive change, so to tell someone who lived an American lifestyle their entire lives that they should be sent back to Mexico, a country that the were forced to flee for a REASON, is wrong.

This bill affects some of the smartest people i know that study at the San Jose State University with me. They are damn good engineering majors and know their Calculus inside and out. they are not the types who would rather go out and party on a Thursday night. They benefit society in so many ways...

and moreover, these were students who kept on studying when the Illegal Immigrant protests flared up around the country.

If you have a problem with the act, then tell your congressmen to modify it so that it puts further restrictions. But i support it.

I think the proposed Nightmare act should NEVER be ratified in ANY form.
It is a type of amnesty.

If it gets ratified, I will go to court and request a summary judgment barring its enforcement until the constitutionality is approved or rejected.

Illegal aliens do not qualify to enlist in the U.S. military. Period. Therefore they are NOT fighting for our country. American citizens and LEGAL immigrants are. Did you ever serve in the military??

As with all amnesty's all it does is encourage those here, and those on the way to think that their amnesty is just one vote away. As to those who bemoan that they had no choice because they were brought here by someone else, that's a issue that needs to address by who ever brought you.

This bill is terrible. It'll only further encourage the illegals to continue to cross the border illegally.
