Please avoid sarcasm and mean answers.

I am looking for valid, intelligent, thought-out ideas on how to fix this problem without hurting people.

A special tax would be drawn up with the proceeds going to the Mexican government who would use this money to promote job growth, offer investments within the country, help with small business loans, build houses, build roads, build schools, offer college grants. What do you think ?

I find that most of those who hate immigrants (illegal or not) do not actually know any people who are immigrants..but just hate them because of often false or simpliedfied stories in the media..

Most immigrants are harding working people just like you and me..and are only trying to make the best of their life..If you were born into poverty wouldn't you want to better yourself

and now the US is busting at the seams. Yet and still, mexicans do not seem to be concern that the numerous amout of kids per family just might be the reason that there are more people then jobs in Mexico. Why have they settled for low pay undoing equal opportunity in pay in which people have fought and died to have. Why don't they work on making Mexico a better place to live opposed to coming to american and picking up where the blacks and poor whites left off before civil rights. I mean, if they are such great laborers they would have figured out how to make their own country a success.

One mother was located in Texas after her 7-year-old child called a state hot line set up to help reunite the families, authorities said. The Massachusetts governor said the woman would be returned to Massachusetts.

"The children go to sleep crying and asking for their mother. They feel her absence," the woman said. "And we can do is wait and wait, and hope they don't deport her."

I don't care either way. I have a natural disposition toward Canadians from personal experience, but rest assured, they have a natural disposition toward me from those same experiences.

As people, we are all fine, but once we start IDing with a natural culture, nationalism takes hold and we become different people.

It's all about capitalism and cheap labor.

Throughout the history of the United States, there has always been a "race" or class of people that have been used by business to promote cheap labor. Be it the African-Americans during the days of slavery and beyond, the Chinese that were used as a cheap source of labor to build the railways, or the Japanese that that worked in the sugar and pineapple plantations in Hawaii. Business owners look at the bottom line and will always find ways to reduce labor cost.

While it is frustrating to see this happening, it is not about the Mexican's that are crossing the border, it is not about the Indians that are coming over to "help" in the technical industries, it is only about businesses lobbying in Washington to fight to keep profits up and labor cost down.

I don't think that some people look at the "big picture". As long as we are doing nothing but fighting about Jose coming in, we aren't doing anything about the root cause.

I have my own opinion, I just want to see if any one has an opinion. When the draft comes in to play, I believe it is not fair to send college students, fathers, and other productive citizens of the country to go to fight, while on the other hand you have criminals that r doing nothing but wasting tax payers money eating three meals a day, watching cable and having other perks when they havent done anything to warrant them being rehabilitated. I say send them there to do the dirty work, they wanted to be menances to society when they had the freedom, they lost that right. Most of them already know how to use firearms since when they commited their acts of unlawfulness some had firearms on their possesions, maybe if they come back then maybe we can talk about parole. I just don't think its fair for those who try to make the world a better place being productive human beings to have to bare that burden unless they so choose. This goes far beyond any political affiliations. What u think?

Many thanks in advance to those who reply,

My situation is simply this. My brother came to the U.S.A. at the age of 9 obtained a social security number, but went back to England at the age of 12. He never obtained a citizenship.

Fast forward to now, he is 39 and 4 years ago was found guilty of drug possession. Since then he has cleaned up etc etc. He now wants to move here with me, a US citizen.

With having a felony on his record, will this prevent him from obtaining a visa? Or will they restrict him to a certain time? Also can he ever become a citizen, granted he stays out of trouble etc?

Any web links would be helpful also.
