why do Americans get crap for supposedly stealing land from native when the Spanish were the first to actually go in an attack and try to convert the natives? they also committed genocide and took local resources. but no one ever seems to give them gripe about it. only the "americans" who were actually europeans.
the other issue is why does it matter? one country taking over another is a fact of life in the history of the world. almost no nation in the east is innocent of this. if you give america hell for this fact of life, then do the same for very tribe, nation, and country in the east.

Some people mention the issue of language in regards to the acceptability of illegal immigration. For those that hold a position like that, why does it matter? If they are illegal, does it matter if they speak perfect English? If they are legal permanent aliens, would not learning the language just be fine then?

A common statement supporting illegal aliens and amnestying them is that "we" are all immigrants to this land, therefore should somehow not oppose illegal immigration. Why would someone consider this a valid defense?

my situation is that soon (Oct 16th) i am going to this embassy meeting to try to get the visa to travel to the states. my bf's family is sending me this letter to invite me to the states for my bday. we all wish that i can get it. they are becoming the person-in-charge of me while im there,; Obviously im going with some money for myself. everything will be so legal. i will be back in my country (dominican Rep.) in 1 week after.

yes, illegal aliens are the new "elite class" in this country. they get free heath care, an allowance from the government and carte blanche to do what they want in the USA no matter how detrimental to the very foundation of this country. our politicians have decided that the "neo-elites" and their wants and needs are MUCH more important than the underclass (US citizens)

Does anyone have any info on the interview process, wait times stuff like that for an interveiw at Ciudad Juarez? Also while you are waiting for your interview and for your processing time of a few months do you have to staye in Ciudad Juarez or can you go visit other places in Mexico.

I got my Green card in March 200 and I left from USA for oversees. I have been out of USA for most time since then but never for more than six months. Would the immigration create a problem if I stayed out of the country for more than six months at a strech? Can I be denied the right to re-enter the USA if I prolong my stay oversees beyond six months?

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say, I break into your house. Let's say, that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part). If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard working and honest, um, except for, well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice, and being an anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America

Also how many people think that even though they are breaking the law they will get every thing they want handed to them on silver platter? Amnesty, More government benifits, and everything else? i think that building a huge wall to keep out the mexicans is a sort of easy way out of this problem. shouldnt we try to find the reason the immigration is happening and push to solve it that way. please leave somethin and let me hear your input on the subject. thanks

I was serving an older European looking lady a drink the other day. She had an accent so I asked where she was from. She said America. I said but your accent? She said I've been here so long I forgot where I'm from. Then she winked at me. She looked so cute when she said it she is now one of my favorite guests. Not saying that people should forget where they come from. Just saying if you want to be a citizen then you need to appreciate America. Not come and burn the flag and demand us to change our laws.
