The wall, military and any sort of force aren't the solution for illegal immigrants from the south.
Stopping companies from hiring these workers under minimum wage is the real solution. Our government needs to find their big-corporation friends heavily if companies violating the law that's already in place.
- Companies should go through the legal channel and apply for immigration paper to hire temporary workers. So workers are here for up to 10 months when labor force is in demand and they return back to their own country.
- Companies need to obtain the minimum wage rule when it comes to paying these temporary workers. So that American would apply for the same jobs if they choose to
If our government is willing to strictly enforce the existing immigration and labor law our immigration problem will drastically reduced.
1. If there aren't enough companies who are willing to offer jobs to temporary workers at minimum wage. Without jobs, there wouldn't be this continuous stream of people who want to come here.
2. At minimum wage, there might be some American who is willing to take those jobs and thus the companies wouldn't need as many temporary workers from outside of the country. Again if we reduce the demand for workers, the supply will diminish as well.
3. With proper immigration channel for temporary workers from other country, they can return to their home country and come back in the next work season. Many would much prefer doing that than to be a underground second class person in the U.S.
In my opinion, we already have the tool in place to solve a big portion of the immigration issue. The question is whether our politicians have the guts to stand up against their donors, the big corporation friends and the lobbyists.

The wall is a quick fix and probably temporary as i don't see it as a solution.
It happened in Germany, but look at the amount of military it took to make it work.
The only real solution is to try and persuade the Mexican government to think about it's people....The industry that is currently developing in Mexico would go along way to help the country get on it's feet and bring some wealth to it's citizens.
Maybe the USA and Mexico should try and open some kind of dialog and together create a sort of "think tank" together.
I'm sure between the two a solution could be agreed upon that would help both countries.
But getting them on the same page would be a feat in itself.

But that would be too...OMIGOD...RATIONAL!!! And, as you know, Americans NEVER do anything the rational way. They prefer bullying, posturing, invading and pleasing ignorant voters with stupid ideas! Also, if you tried to explain the economic reasons for immigration to Joe Punchclock, his eyes would cross and his "brain" would start melting!
So, it LOOKS like the wall is going up. Maybe it'll be really tasteful, like the Great Wall of China and we can charge admission to climb over it?
P.S.: Here is a snippet from one class article on "Contemporary Mexican and Puerto Rican Immigration" by Trudy Anderson, from the Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute".
(See link below).
"Prior to February 1848, Mexico included some places that are now part of the USA (including Texas, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and parts of Wyoming and Colorado). In 1821, Anglos began to move into Texas which was still a part of Mexico. In exchange for large portions of land, they had to agree to speak Spanish, become Catholic and follow Mexican laws."
Soo....looks like the MEXICANS should have put up a wall first, to keep out the stupid Gringos!

Absolutely there should be more - we should have our military on the border - not the national guard - we protect many other countries with our military- why not the borders of the US?
As to the reason immigration is happening - we know that -- it's the social services these ILLEGAL freeloaders receive - paid for by Americans tax dollars!

We need to get that visa exit tracking system in place and quickly finalize the employee database so that we can truly enforce our laws against employers, as well. That will help dismantle the employer magnet, however, we have to dismantle the benefits magnet as well. We put in benefit after benefit above what they have going for them at home, and of course it draws them.
We do give development aid, but we can't solve poverty in the world. Nor is that our responsibility, and I resent the implication that it is. Besides that, while we can fold some of that into the solution, it will be SLOW.
What our immediate neighbor to the south needs most, for example, is universal education. Education is very expensive, which is why their government doesn' t pay for it for them. However, they have their rich as we do, and that is a change they need to make for themselves.

Build the wall. Make the illegals construct it and then shoot them all. The wall should have machine guns on top and the food of the soldiers patroling, it should be served by illegal mexicans in chains.

What we need to do is adopt the Mexican immigration laws as our own! Then we wouldn't be in the mess we are now.

No, that's their problem, we're already in a budget deficit. We need to spend our resources to rebuild the gulf coast before we even think about rebuilding Mexico.
