And of course they would be posted with politically correct, multi lingual signs( including French and German) because you never know who the 'coyotes' are sneaken across.

American rednecks post simplistic solutions to great problems. Minefields would not help at all, unless it also helps stop the drug trade that flows into America, which happens to be the biggest market in the world and the number one consumer. America also feels free to certify the efforts of other countries in the war against drugs, but adamnantly refuses to acknowledge that druglords are not just outside the US. For some strange reason nobody receives the drug loads, or distributes them, or makes a profit, it all happens outside the USA, funny huh?
If illegals cross the border they do it to earn money and make a better life than their home country can offer them, it is a matter of choice, not because they are criminals

What an idea! Who inspired you? Saddam Hussein?
that is in every legal constitution from any civilized country barbaric and inhuman, if this is a joke is very black and of the worst kind, but if is serious then you should revise what you believe or take a socially humane and civilized nation is, as I am sure you believe that you live in such a one, right?
What will your next solution be? Concentration Fields? Gas chambes? come on, the sky is the limit.
You are a coward, why don't you propose these things out in the streets in public, or if you want a solution for real, write to your representative with such. brilliant proposal.ah? ...no?
That's what I thought.

Greeting from Afghanistan, Home of the Soviet Mine Field. That's right they are still here long after the nation that placed them feels the need for them. They kill still and without selection. They kill kids, stray livestock and Innocent farmers. Do you really want that in the US? I agree illegal immigration is a problem but let's solve it in a rational and humane manner. When you propose such madness you make it easier for the opponents of meaning full immigration reform to jump up and play their trump card of claiming anyone who opposes illegal immigration is a violent racist. Once you allow someone to play their "racist" trump card even if it is unjustified you lost the debate in the eyes of most folks. Do the rational and humane folks who oppose illegal immigration a favor and put a cork in it.
Before you question my patriotism stop and ponder just what I am doing in Afghanistan. (pre-emptive strike!)

When there's a will there's a way so I doubt mine fields will deter those who want to come into the U.S. Currently, they are aware they have to cross deserts in very hot temperature, they know they are risking their lives and yet they continue to arrive.

Someone so desparate to risk their life to come to the U.S. and work for pennies in order to better themselves has a more guts and faith than the person posing this question (unless you are joking of course and then you should really work on your sense of humor). I understand that we need to secure our country and certain legal issues concerning immigration need to be addressed but to simply blow these people to bits is insane. I work with many legal immigrants and some of the stories I hear about their life before coming to the U.S. are heart breaking. Does your heart break or was it removed when the "fear" took hold. Fear is by the way the opposite of faith. Put that in your song and sing it.

minefields work on other international borders. Mexico has a completely militarized southern border, because they dont want a bunch of poor guatemalans sneaking across and ruining an already ruined economy. whats good for the goose is good for the gander. militarize our southern border, because IT IS OUR RIGHT AS A NATION to do so.
those human rights people who dont like it, can read the constitution where it talks about the responsibility to defend the nation. if they dont like it, they can go to guatemala and square that away first. but they dont give a rats shiite about them.
instead of a minefield we can have a national defense training base on the border. use the border as a free fire/ artillery impact range. it will be a no mans land.
