I am having an internal conflict about Guantanamo Bay. One side of me (the liberal side) thinks that it is horrible that all of these innocent people with no information are being tortured and detained for years. Their lives will never be the same and they have lost years of their lives. The other side of me (conservative) thinks that Guantanamo Bay is ok. The information we get from some of these people have enabled the government to stop terrorist attacks that would have killed thousands of innocent people. The way I look at it is, which is better- wasting 3 years of many innocent people's lives with horrible wretched torture, or losing thousands of lives because of a terrorist attack because Guantanamo Bay was closed and leads and tips were lost because torture is no longer allowed. Is my logic flawed?

Some are screaming "separation of church and state". It's funny that a few years ago when the Reverend Al Sharpton was running for president no one had a problem with a minister running for the office. Or when the Reverend Jackson ran for president no one had a problem with a minister running for the office. Can anyone show me in the Constitution where it says that a minister can't run for president? Explain how this situation would violate the establishment clause.

Hillary is saying she isn't behind her staffers statements concerning Obama's drug use.
Since she is the one who wants to be President, isn't she responsible for the actions of those working for her campaign?
President Bush is held accountable for everything that occurs on his watch;why shouldn't she be held to the same standard of accountability?

I got a letter from a collections agency telling me if I dont respond in 10 days they will contact a local law firm and file civil judgement against me. My question is..Is this a scare tactic? Will they actually go through with and should I contact them? This was in regards to a loan I had taken out back in '03 to help a family member who did not pay me back so naturally I'm getting screwed. Also at the time I wasnt married and livng in NY but now am married and reside in NE, can they go after my husband's money since I'm currently unemployed? What should I do?

How many Americans have seen one of the 20 or so estates that the Bushes REALLY live in?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Bushhaus2.JPG

And why do they keep comparing Al Gore's central home and offices to just one of Bushes properties?

Perhaps because that property is the ONLY one that has solar panels?

How serious do you think the credit problem is when a bill for a bailout passed the Senate on a 93 to 1 vote and the president is asking the House to have the bill on his desk before year end for his signature?

Seems like an awful lot of urgency on this matter.

The UK govt seems to spend more time apeasing non brits and natives....WHY?
this might sound like a rant but bare with: we can't call christmas, christmas anymore. Instead it is called Winter Festival.
Pigs can no longer be shown in advertisements (for fear of upsetting muslims or jews...who i think couldn't really care less about it).
And giving benifits to immigrants from romania or ghana or wherever who can barely speak english ( and spending £38,000,00 in translators fees each year) and denying some natives the same benifits..
what is wrong with our govt? what can they be thinking?
