The constitution says that electors appointed by each state select the president. The general public voting is how the states decided to inform their electors.

The funny thing is, I'd wager 9 out of 10 people on the street could not tell you how their electors are chosen or appointed, or whether their state requires their electors to cast their votes in accordance with the popular vote from their state.

Yes, it is written into the Constitution so who are any of us to question it? One of these days a Democrat will be elected president by a majority of electoral congress votes when a Republican candidate gets the popular vote and it will be us Republican's turn to piss and moan about the electoral college.

Majority vote must be adopted to select the President so that the will of the majority must be the deciding factor in choosing a leader and not the will of a few representatives..
