I was told he needs to show proof of ID, well, he can't a Texas ID Card unless he has a SS #, but the SS office won't give him one unless he has a picture ID....DUH!!!!!!! One agency says I need the other but neither will help. HELP! My son is 18. He has NOTHING with a picture on it to show who he is. Just a birth certificate.

try to talk to a manager at one or the other or both ... someone should be able to give you more information ...

Your son should have a social security number already, even if he's lost his card. I've never had to show my social security card when getting an ID, just provide the number. Check your tax returns -- you needed to include his social security number on your returns when you claimed him as a deduction.

Use the birth certificate to apply for a license to drive so that your son can use it to apply for the SS number.

Try going to his high school. Most schools now-a-days print photo ID's for their students.....most use them as lunch cards too!
