Does anybody else note the inconsistencies in the conservative pro-war arguments? Here is my favorite one, and it is the reason I asked the above question:

We should be allowed to torture our enemies because they are not prisoners of war since they wear no uniforms; yet apparently they're strong enough and organized enough to come to the USA and invade and overpower our military if we don't keep our troops in Iraq.

Since even the President isn't pretending any more that the war in Iraq is remotely related to 9/11, that means that the OFFICIAL story is that the events of 9/11 were not the start of this war. (Which makes sense since this war wasn't actually started until March 20, 2003.)

So where is the proof that the insurgents in Iraq will head to the U.S. if we pull our troops out? When has Iraq EVER invaded the U.S.?

When England and Argentina were fighting the Falklands War we had a responsibility to be on each side.

England under NATO, and Argentina under the Rio Treaty.

When are we gonna stop these ridiculous alliances that add to our deficit and get good servicemen killed. Why didn't we fight for both.

Ron Paul 08, it only makes sense.

(Why this was deleted before, I have no idea! No, I am not violating any TOS; I checked twice, thank you very much.)

Question: "What's your take on contraception?"

Why this matters: "If their statements and actions are indicators, most of the GOP candidates oppose contraception. Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter, and Fred Thompson all define life as beginning at conception or fertilization, in other words when sperm meets egg."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/huffpost/20...

This stance has wide ranging implications. For one thing, it strictly limits what couples may do in the privacy of their homes; barrier contraceptives like condoms (or, *GASP!* abstinence) are the only methods people may use to prevent pregnancy.

How do ya'll feel about your potential President dictating what contraceptive methods you may or may not use during sex? Do you think this may have further slippery slope implications? Serious and HONEST responses only, please.

Is he trying to say there is criminal action going on, or is he trying to place himself above the legislature?

My neighbour started to build a big loft conversion with 3 large windows that overlook my garden and my bedroom. When I checked with the council (also my next door neighbours as they are also affected by this) they said that they did not received a planning application from them. After a month and when the building is nearly done and the roof up, we received today the letter from the council informing about the application for the development. My question is what are the regulations regarding loft conversions, do we stand any chance to complaint about it considering that he started work before even having plans approved from the council ?
Any answers would be very much appreciated

the lawyer acting in his capacity as chair of the zba in my town swayed the board to grant a variance to a cell tower developer to construct a 180' tower in a residential zone. The lawyer was employed by a firm very active in representing tower companies trying to push their way into this area. he gave the board members information pertaining to legal issues associated with the siting of towers before the meeting . the information was biased toward allowing a variance for fear of legal action against the town. when i got an attorney involved ( at the hearing for a rehearing) he told the board that my attorney was incorrect in his assessment of the law. it was ultimately disclosed that the chairman had a conflict of interest and he stepped down. i did get a new hearing because of his misdeed however i did not get a new board and had to spend over $50,000.00 to reeducate them and protect my land.

If there's one thing that economists agree on, it's that these claims are false. We're not talking just ivory-tower lefties. Virtually every economics Ph.D. who has worked in a prominent role in the Bush Administration acknowledges that the tax cuts enacted during the past six years have not paid for themselves--and were never intended to. Harvard professor Greg Mankiw, chairman of Bush's Council of Economic Advisers from 2003 to 2005, even devotes a section of his best-selling economics textbook to debunking the claim that tax cuts increase revenues.

"Don't confuse Mika Brzezinski with the facts. She's anti-gun and is not about to let some stunning counter-evidence change her mind.

If ever there was an illustration of how an armed citizen can make a difference, it is the case of Jeanne Assam, the brave woman who took out the killer at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs. And yet . . .

On today's Morning Joe, Mika -- in newsreader mode -- dutifully reported the incident. But when Joe Scarborough sought to draw the logical inference, Mika put her anti-gun foot down."

If the USA is a democracy, why does the President and Congress spend billions and billions of borrowed money on a war based on what is now know as blatant lies. The same thing started the U.S. involvement in Vietnam, LIES. Is this the same as the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire? Can the USA keep spending BILLIONS OF DOLLARS it BORROWS EVERYDAY, on war to make the defense contractors rich Indefinately? Who will eventually have to repay the debt? Our Grandchildren? Will our governmemt eventually collaspe like the U.S.S.R's did because we have no control over the Republicans or Democrats. All get bought by the corporations don't they?

Since powerful lobbyist who represent the people who manufacture war weapons have billions of dollars to buy the President, Senators and Representatives, would it not be better to require the Governors of each state to vote on when and where to go to war? Does it not seem apparent that both the Democrats or Republicans in Washington are totally powerless to stop the war in Iraq because of someone more powerful than they are? It is now clear that the war was started based on lies but yet no one is talking about impeachment. Are they all dirty and owned by the large corporations and defense contractors? If we had a draft, there would be riots and protest all over America but since the young men are offered large sums of money to go to war (mercenaries), the defense contractors get richer and richer from death, maiming, and destruction. The Vice President's "former" buisness associates are making billions on this war. Are my statements true?

In your personal opinion,
What do you think will happen if we (elected a democrate president) who wants to pull out of Iraq?
It seems a lot of people on here want to get out of Iraq. Which financially makes alot of sense, but as far as our safety is concerned how are dems going to react when the war comes here (if it does)?

Thanks for your answers.
