I keep only one, it's enough to do the job. As to why I have it, it's an American Right and part of our Constitution. Also the government taught me how to use it and care for it, sent me to Vietnam to use it, where I did use it, and will use it again to protect not only myself but anybody else being threatened or harmed.

Thank god Florida came to it's senses and now allows one to use deadly force without legal ramifications to protect ones life. And it did not turn into a gun toting, free for all that many said it would, heck, even Alabama joined in.

Yes, several. Home and Family protection. Remember the supreme court ruled the police are not required to protect you, just solve and prevent crime.
To hunt. The more meat I put in the freezer, the less grocery money spent.
To use as recreation or hobby with friends and family at the range.
Lastly, the second amendment of the constitution allows me to. If you don't exercise your freedoms, you will loose them.

More

to make people think twice before conducting criminal activity

to make the government think twice before disregarding the Constitution

My gun can do all these things without leaving the safe in my closet, the shelf next to my bed, or the holster in my pocket.

How wise the founders were to protect this right.

I have several, for several reasons.
Above all, a gun is a tool. Just like a hammer or screwdriver.
I have a tool for work, one for Home defense, a tool for hunting, a tool for personal defense outside the home. a tool for shooting at soda cans :-), etc.
All they are are tools. You could use a hammer to drive a screw. In the end you'll get a similar end result, but it's not the right tool for the job.

we have numerous rifles and shotguns, and my daughters (9 and 7) both have BB guns. Hunting and going out to the shooting range are wonderful ways to clear your head and relax.

I own a number of weapons, including firearms, but I have no guns.

Their most common and frequent use is for marksmanship practice. In addition, I can defend my family and property if I need to.

Incidentally, though still very importantly, I do because I can. It is my right and rights that aren't exercised, get taken away.

No. for a few reasons...

1. I had a baby and suffered post-partum depression. I am aware of how depression can make you do stupid things, and wouldn't want a gun around in those situations.

2. I have a baby daughter, and read all too often about how kids get guns and shoot themselves, family, or friends by accident.

3. Just one more gun to be stolen and misused by someone else.

4. I have no need to hunt. I can go to the store to buy my meat, as can everyone else in the United States.

5. I suffer from night terrors...I have terrible nightmares that make me sleepwalk, and get extremely defensive and panicked...I am afraid that I would pick up a gun and use it while sleeping. I do a lot of strange things in my sleep.
