Since powerful lobbyist who represent the people who manufacture war weapons have billions of dollars to buy the President, Senators and Representatives, would it not be better to require the Governors of each state to vote on when and where to go to war? Does it not seem apparent that both the Democrats or Republicans in Washington are totally powerless to stop the war in Iraq because of someone more powerful than they are? It is now clear that the war was started based on lies but yet no one is talking about impeachment. Are they all dirty and owned by the large corporations and defense contractors? If we had a draft, there would be riots and protest all over America but since the young men are offered large sums of money to go to war (mercenaries), the defense contractors get richer and richer from death, maiming, and destruction. The Vice President's "former" buisness associates are making billions on this war. Are my statements true?

All this does is move the bribery from federal to state arena.
Your opinions are yours. There is no direct evidence that the war was the result of lobbyists for the industrial-military complex. It does NOT seem apparent that congress cannot stop the war. They don't WANT to stop it cold.
No one is talking impeachment because starting a war based on faulty intelligence is not an impeachable offense. It is offensIVE - but not an impeachable offense.
I don't disagree that the war was ill-founded. But your statements are not factual - they contain large doses of your opinions. It may be true that these are your opinions and I don't disrespect them. In fact, I partly agree with some of them. We SHOULD end the war. We SHOULD let the Iraqis reach the point where they sink or swim.
You want to really go nuts? I'd sooner think the war was the work of religious right whackos fighting the spread of Islam than that it was the military-industrial complex seeking higher profits. The MI complex doesn't NEED to seek higher profits. The world was already buying our technology of war anyway.

The American people gave George Bush the mandate to continue the war in Iraq when he was reelected in 2004 and the Republican control of congress increased (until the 2006 congressional elections.) The American people are to blame for the Iraq war in 2003 not defense contractors or anyone else. Those that opposed the war rightly or wrongly, could not generate the votes to stop it or pull the troops out.

I think a direct attack on any country, including the United States should be met with an attack to defend themselves and destroy their enemy. But in the case of a situation like Iraq where Iraq did not attack us, only the congress should be able to send troops to war but first they should have access to the raw intelligence reports, not some twisted, doctored up lies like what came from George Bush, Dick Chenney, Rumsfield, and Colin Powell. Ask Colin Powell and I bet he will admit it was based on LIES. No one man should be able to commit troops to destroy another country. It is true that the President in 1960 or so stated something to the effect that the "Military Industrial Complex" can cause some MAJOR problems for the United States. You are right about the senator that was a POW in Vietnam, McCain...Mc Cain said words to the effect that greed for money is the real reason we went to war with Iraq. It has been said: "DON'T LET PATRIOTISM BLIND YOU TO THE TRUTH." Blind patriotism got Hitler absolute power. Blind Patrotism got 58,000 American men killes in Vietnam. Blind Patriotism got us into the most expensive war in our history becasue the contractors make expensive weapons and need war to sell them. All they have to do I contribute millions to a congressman and they own him or her. This is no longer a democracy, It is an AUCTION!

The authority to declare conflict is given to Congress interior the form. not all the contributors of Congress voted for the Iraqi conflict Authorization. they should in basic terms say they have been lied to. regrettably, until the two 2 thirds of Congress says so or we get a clean President, there isn't a great deal they are able to do approximately it. For the checklist, i exchange into against the conflict from the initiating. My representative as nicely as certainly one of my Senators voted against it. it must additionally be observed that individuals are blaming Congress for doing precisely what the President asked them to do. They authorized the PRESIDENT to take protection stress action. How the administration (ab)used that authority is honestly on the administrative branch. It exchange into extremely Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld that mismanaged the conflict.

Power to go to the war need not be taken away provided they have the power to come back from the war.

You don't think the lobbyists would just start giving the same perks to governors then?
And no, the president is the commander and chief, and needs to stay that way. If our military needs to do something, we don't need months of debate about it before it gets done.

Do some more research. The President doesn't have the power to go to war, and there is no war in Iraq. If there was, we'd be done by now.
