I heard this allegation from a female soldier who said that she didn't cheat but 80% of them do.

Anything to support or refute this?

No.
There are people who get lonely while their spouses are deployed, but as a cop who responds to houses where family members are deployed it seems to me that the opposite is true. Most families are so tight knit in the Military that cheating isn't an issue. Deployments only serve to bring them together more.
As with any segment of society there will be those who do it though, and the Mil is no exception. But I would say overall it's more like 8%.
Is this female soldier your g/f? I think she might have already cheated and wants you to believe it's common enough that she has an ready made excuse if she gets caught. If she can deflect her behavior toward the Mil lifestyle and off of her she can justify her actions. Truthfully though, it's her actions alone and no one elses. She knew it was worng and did it anyway.

yea that is a little high but there are quite a few. There actually is like club that these spouses do, no lie!!! They would put up mops outside with the light on to tell that there "open" for business if ya know what I mean. Not joking either I really am serious, so yea it happens I would say more so than the civilian world. Cause you have to look at the numbers, the army has only so many people versus all the civilians in states.

Now I cant say what the exact percentage is, but I can say I have seen a lot of cheating going on. I also seen alot of divorces because of cheating. Let me put it this way. Last year the 5th Engineers left for Iraq. Literally while the plane was still in the air going to Iraq the wives were already driving to the night clubs. Now it is by no means the majority of the women, but it is a high number that do cheat.

It's not just with the military, but any spouse who is not faithful has a probability of cheating if their spouse is away. I know many men and women who do NOT cheat on their spouses. Another reason is that being that a lot of military relationships include younger couples or couples that get married to quickly and that can cause problems in any relationship.

This # is way out of proportion. It is no higher than what it is in the civilian world. Dh has been in for 17 years, we have been together for 14 of those years. During this time and everyone we have known, 3 people cheated on their spouses. All 3 were AD members. 1 of them wasn't on deployment, he was home. I have heard rumors of guys cheating and so forth but you know what they were all wrong because the guys that started the rumors were the 2 that were cheating themselves.

Dont know the percentage , but ALOT of Spouses and Soldiers do cheat.. I grew up on an Air Force base watched the spouses cheating, soon as the Soldiers deploy you see it everywhere, not every spouse or Soldier cheat, but it does happen...My thing is I wonder God forbid if a spouse cheated when her husband was deployed and something happen to her husband how would they feel.. or even vise versa I know of Soldiers who have cheated on their spouses while deployed, what if something happen to them while they were having an affair and it got back to the spouse that he was doing something he shouldnt have .. either way if your going to cheat why get Married and have children? If you want to be with other people then dont get Married...
I have no respect for those who cheat in or out of the Military..
even though in the Army and other branches it is an easy ART15 loss of rank and or pay but its up to the chain of command to punish the Soldier to me its not enough, watched to many of my friends get divorced because the Soldier cheated.. seen alot of spouses who were my friends cheat and I cut them out my life.
Had a DS at BCT who was married but admitted to sleeping with other women.. I lost respect for him .

I am a Soldier & Armywife

I can make up a number too

80% of Soldiers will dissagree with your numbers.

the Army is only 20% female and they are loaded more in units that do not deploy or to support units. So who are these Soldiers cheating with? Oh wait, I won't ask.

The only thing most Soldiers cheat with on deployment is their other hand.

I think it is much lower in some categories than that. It is against the UCMJ and career officers and senior NCOs as well as some junior enlisted and officers have been prosecuted for it. It is largely frowned upon and is not condoned because of the trouble that it creates for the service members involved as well as their dependents and also the negative impact it may have on a person doing their job.

Well my sister has been happily married to a military man for 10 years. But I dated an army man who cheated on me the first minute he was away. I think it depends on the relationship. My sis says you just have to have a strong relationship and open communication to make a military life style marriage work.
