Ok, well i was taken away from my father about a year ago and im liven with my grandma. I cant go back to my dad for certain reasons and im wondering if when i go back in court in April if i can move in with my friend, there parents want to have guardianship of me instead of my grandma, im 16 and my gramparents said they didnt care, but is this possible to do this legally with the court?

emancipation is an option and so is your friend's parents applying to the court for legal guardianship over you. what is required depends on the state you live in. find out what county you live in. look up that county's family court number and see if they have any self help center that can help you. good luck

this depends on alot...first it depends why you were taken from your father. If it was by social services (cps) then I am sure you have a case worker and they would be the ones to be able to answer these questions. To be emancipated, like the others said, you need to prove you can take care of yourself.

Be prepared to show cause that you would be better living there. Emancipation is not granted arbitrarily. You must have valid reasons to achieve this.

Have yourself declared emancipated by the courts.

This gives you adult status, privileges, and responsibilities.
