I'm in a class debate arguing for the U.S. to reinstate the draft. I thought up a couple of arguments, but nothing solid enough and backed up by reliable evidence. I don't want to lose and look like an idiot, any help would be appreciated.

So I was thinking about the Johnson impeachment, which, for those of you who don't know, is where Congress simply didn't agree with President Johnson and went through impeachment trials without any evidence of actual crimes (more of complaints than anything). However, there were enough people in Congress with morals to vote against it. Yet if there were no people with morals in that Congress, the president would have been impeached and removed from office. So if that were to happen, could he do anything to get his position back considering that he had done nothing illegal? In other words, is there any check on these preceedings (Checks and balances system, anyone?)? Could the ex-president sue Congress and restore power through the supreme court? Or would the supreme court simply be able to bring criminal charges against congress, but not restore presidential power (as the constitution states that only the legislative branch takes part in the process of impeachment)?

Bubba said Tuesday the public would benefit from more attention to the records of the presidential candidates — like his wife's — and less to daily skirmishes that "won't amount to a hill of beans."

If the mere fact of having been around the Oval Office while Bill Clinton was working there is sufficient experience for the job, then Monica Lewinsky has as much claim on the Presidency as Hillary has. Maybe more.

Let me get this straight. You would vote for a man who will not salute the flag, cross his heart for the national anthem or wear a U.S. flag lapel pin? What the *** are you smoking? Fine, you want to be a flag burning counterculturalist? You are free to do so. But stay out of politics! They don't concern you! Besides, true socialists don't believe in voting anyway. The government picks your leaders for you!

Is it truly acceptable to say that everyone is equally qualified to understand the political machine and equally willing to insure the fair application of principle in democracy? If this isn't the issue, why is it considered acceptable to believe in the balance of powers between demographics and political parties through self-seeking behavior? Isn't the point of liberal democracy is to CHECK self-seeking behavior through the moderation of freedoms in accordance with the law and the moderation of prosperity in accordance with taxes and welfare?

I am only 15 years old but i have been reading a lot on this subject. I do not understand why we have such a banking system in place.. why not have the government run it? Instead of a independent company running it...
Why not have the government be the bank, that way when we go to war we are not paying interest rates to an independent company bank, thus helping our debt problem.
Also, Section 8 of the Constitution states that Congress shall have the power to create money and regulate the value... wouldn't that be breaking the law with the system we have in place right now?
And if you think about it they are sitting on a monopoly! They have the entire United States in their hand controlling the economic structure, couldn't they bring us as a nation down to our knees if they wanted too.
FED creates money from nothing, and loans it back to us through banks, and charges interest on our currency. Wouldnt this make the United States always in debt, never being able to get out of it

This one is easy. Unless you are a corporation or a member of the rich elite, then pick a candidate... ANY CANDIDATE... who is not funded by these people! Why in God's name would you vote for a candidate who is EMPLOYED by the very people who want to take your money and freedom and enslave you? Are you people retarded or what?
