I don't know what to think. I always assumed there were just a few crazy extremists and that the rest were just regular people. But what I have noticed is that while all kinds of atrocities are being perpetrated in the name of Islam, I do not see any outrage among Muslims.

If someone goes and committed murder or some kind of violent act in the name of Christianity, you immediately see Christians raising their voices or taking to the street to defend their religion against such evil. The same for most religions. Yet, when we hear of bombings, beheading, beatings, or worse done in the name of Islam.....only silence.

I do not know how else to interpret that except that the vast majority of Muslims do not seem to mind. That means they must agree that those acts are proper.

Add to that the fact that (and I know this to be factual) on 9/11 Muslims in Jersey City and Paterson New Jersey were in the street cheering when the World Trade Center was hit.

I find that very disturbing. I am sorry but I do not trust Muslims that do not speak out. That seems to be most of them.

I think Muslims are humans Being. I think they share the human condition, including the god delusion that afflicts the greater part of mankind. I think that many of the values of Islam are the same as mine, and I respect them. I think that many of their values are less admirable, some are downright cruel and inhumane. The teddybear incident is an example. The beating of the young man and woman who'd been raped, and what's worse, were more maligned than the rapists, is an example.

I wish Muslims a full, healthy, happy and prosperous life, just as I wish it for Jews, Atheists, Agnostics, Hindus, Jains, Buddhist, Confucians, Christians and all.

And for any of the above who value their ideologies more than human life, I think they don't deserve life.

Generally no problem. But there is an element of Islam that scares the hell out of me: 9/11, the murder of Theo Van Gogh for producing a film, the Bali bombings, the Taliban's time in Afghanistan, the 7/7 London bombings, the Glasgow Airport bombing, whipping a woman who was raped, wanting to kill someone for naming a teddy bear, Osama, Munich....

Why does this religion spawn so many evil people?

Like any other religion, there are good Muslims and scary ones. Every religion has its fanatics. These are the ones that give their religion a bad name. Not all Muslims are terrorists any more than all born-again Christians are rednecks. We should all be more tolerant than our parents in order to avoid cataloging and judging people based on their beliefs.

all the muslims i know are loving sweet people and great friends. the muslims portrayed in the media r terrorists, not muslims. if the word "islam" means peace, and the word "muslim" means follower of islam, how can you be a terrorist and a muslim at the same time? you cant. these terrorists think they r doing the right thing, jihad and all. well theyre not. jihad is in true waged war. suicide bombing is not martyrdom, its suicide, which is a clear violation of islam.

The average Muslim stands by silently giving tacit approval as his brethren kill indiscriminately. He only wants to see persons of other faiths die, or be forcibly converted to Islam. Every Muslim nation on earth is a feudal backwater of poverty, ignorance and disease, led be a few rich warlords, oil sheiks or tyrants, while the majority of their citizenry suffer to scratch out a daily diving. They hate Jews, despise Christians, terrorize Buddhists and Hindus, and kill dissidents or independent thinkers of their own faith. They brutalize their women. They want to destroy all of Western civilization, culture and learning.

I do not know any personally but I do know that ALL suicide bombers have been muslim... I know that all foreign terrorists are muslim. .. I know that anyone that follows their faith so blindly and without regard for life isn't a true believer of ANY religion. So, to answer your question, I have no problem with REAL muslims.

obviously not all muslims are the same as each other but in general, some of the ideas are good such as abstinence from alcohol.

i am not a great fan of religion in general

i think muslims r ppl mlike us and should be treated like we want 2 be treated but if they r a terrorist then they should be sent 2 jail and muslims r not the only ones that r causing trouble there is a lot of other bad ppl on earth but somehow muslims get blamed 4 it even though i am not a muslim i don't exactly support them but i am not against them either
