My manager does like my work. What do you think? Can she make a difference in the decision?

Mass legislators are considering banning spanking. What do you think? Should they? Is it a good or bad idea?

What other implications are there if this goes through?

In the pres. succession line,v.p.,speaker,senate pres.,etc. Why is the chief justice of the supreme court not in that list? Some of those ranked 13th or 14th would not know more than the chief justice, or am I incorrect? Thanks for the help!

I've seen people claiming that in several answers.

Please see the latest Consumer Price Index Summary inflation report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics

Here's the link http://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.nr0.htm

Please note those items are clearly included and counted.

Okay, I just got a letter in my mailbox from the assistant dean of my college "questioning my conduct on Nov. 4th" and that "it is alleged" that I was smoking marijuana on campus.

This is clearly not true and the only "evidence" that the school might have is the fact that a RA thought they smelled it from underneath the door of a dorm room I was in (not even my dorm). But that did not stop them from setting up a "hearing" between me and the assistant dean on Thursday. My two other friends also have hearings before me at a different time in the day.

So if the college has no other real evidence aside from "we thought we smelled it", is there any way that can pin this on us? Like if our stories don't match up (which isn't even a concern since we did nothing wrong)? Or if they'll make us take a drug test (can they even do that)?

Yes, if an adult kills a baby, we all call it murder, do we not? Cells are alive, they grow, do they not?

From (where else?) the People's Republic of Massachusetts:

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

If signed into law, parents would be prohibited from forcefully laying a hand on any child under age 18 unless it was to wrest them from danger, lest they be charged with abuse or neglect.

Charles Enloe, 45, of Plymouth, knows a little something about that. In 2005, he was infamously arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon for taking a belt to his then 12-year-old son during an argument over homework.

The charges were later dropped and Enloe told the Herald yesterday the experience “didn’t change my views at all. I believe discipline starts at home. Are they going to start legislating that you can’t raise your voice to your kids? That you can’t tell them when to go to bed? We’ll be communists then.”

I am 14 and my friend 15 and we were rollerblading in a store.
Security came up to us and told us to leave.
As we were leaving another Security Officer came along and brought us to the office.
They called the police and we were handcuffed and taken to the police station.
Our parents called and released.
Was this legal.

I need to write a 5 page paper analyzing a case study. In a quick summary the case study is this: A patient wants pain medication, but is a recovered drug addict. He only recovered with the help of a church. He rates his leg pain as a "10" and wants pain meds, but the doctor won't give them to him b/c he was an addict. The nurse has to follow doctor's orders and not give him the meds and cant tell him why. They give him a placebo treatment, and still the patient is a "10" for pain.
What is the moral obligation of the nurse? (Tell the patient whats going on? etc.)

I need ethical justifications for my answer. like autonomy is being violated, ect. any help is appreciated!!!

I'm a single female, age 29. DEP recruit, ship in May.
I know it's not all up to me, but as a proactive, resourceful gal, I'm doing my homework before I go.

A few questions:
How much say do I get in choosing my language?
What languages are most desirable and needed - both IN the service, AND once I'm out (unless I decide to stay for my 20)?

Should I learn some basics in several now (library tapes, etc) to see what languages I like/relate to more?

Training is intense, but after that what is a typical day life? Sea or shore duty differences? Paperwork-intensive or not? Challenging consistently or ho-hum? Time off? Travel opps?
Earning/advancement potential?

A couple details about me for context:
I REALLY want to travel.
French is my 2nd language. I'm fairly proficient, I've retained much from high school & college. I speak some Spanish, but am far from fluent.
I got a 119 on the DLAB (what a hard but great test!)

I appreciate any tips, advice, or cautionary tales you can share.

Why not an independent individual with absolutely no party affilitation with any party? Has there ever been someone that tried to run for president with this aspect?
